Newnick, I dropped my 3 wood because of the high winds in favour of the lower flight of the 4 wood , the 5th hole 274 yard par 4 which was directly in to the wind today is slightly uphill , I hit a low shot maybe 10 feet above the ground for the whole of the balls flight , it went 30 yards past my usual driver distance which surprised me , I then took a 56 deg wedge and flew the ball all the way to the flag against a strong wind which left me 5 foot from the pin which yielded my first gross birdie in a year , can't be sure of the exact yardage of the 4 wood shot as the strong wind made a mockery of wedge yardages as it just knocked the ball down vertical, all I know is it was way past where I'm usually hitting my second shot from.
Den, I can almost say my game is about to get back to where I was over two years ago , ok , I'm cocking up on quite a few holes per round but , yes there's that But again , there are times when for two or three holes my shots go exactly where I aimed them and where I saw in my mind the shot I needed , par, bogey , birdie , par , was just such a run of holes where it all worked as I wanted it to , it felt easy and my belief in my irons soared for a while , I just need to nail where and why it falls apart , its so elusive and frustrating but Ill get it one day.
I know , we all say that , I just feel its coming nearer and nearer to happening for me , its just these damn blow up holes thats stopping me shooting a good score and playing like I know I can , I've run through the full list of is it this or that and to be honest my swings feel the same every shot , I sha*ked one or two today , I topped 3 shots , heavy shots accounted for the rest of the bad shots , obviously its my fault , maybe dipping or looking up too soon , I got punished badly today for each bad shot IE water , up against a tree twice, and had to chip out backwards both times , Just can't spot the cause of it all yet , maybe one day eh .
As you say I only play once a week , I can't practice so I only get one shot at improving per week and have to wait a week before trying again , I don't even get chance to warm up as I'm there on the last minute before Tee Off Time. thanks to Societies teeing off at 10.30 and we are out at 10.15 so we don't get held up , I'm up at 7 am and only getting out for 8.30 it takes time to drive 20 miles to drop wife off and then get to the course all in the rush hour .
sorry for whinging so much , its been a long day, Time for Bed methinks..
Nite all.
