Just ior clarity, imho a blade is harder to hit for several reasons, I diasgree with Bob that its only forgiveness that makes the difference. A blade will generally have lower offset, offset helps square the face and get the ball airbourne. The blade will traditionally have a sharper leading edge and less bounce, plus narrower sole, these things all make it harder to sit for anyone who doesn't have a consistent swing. then there is the issue of weight distribution. They are unquestionably harder to hit for all these reasons, and then I also agree with Bob, they are also a lot less forgiving.

So if you have a very consistent swing, a neg angle of attack, enough swingspeed to generate lift, you hit from the middle all the time, you have a decent swing path and don;t need offset, and you also prefer probably a lower flight, then fine, use blades. But don't kid yourself they are no harder to use than perimeter weighted clubs, with wider sole, offset and blunter leading edge. They aren't.

Well just to let you know i have had a go on the range twice now with the titleist blades and they are very nice just what i expected really and today i hit them better because i am starting to swing the club better after not playing for years and the last 5 balls i hit with my 3 iron and all were struck well and for me there isnt a better feeling than nailing a long iron when they arent the easiest club to hit .

You only get one go on the golf course

Woodburner,

If that were true surely Par would be 18 on every course!

We get lots of goes and when one doesn't work out so well we have another. ( yes I know what you mean't but you must lend some credence to my point also...)

Middling the 4 iron regular was a sign my golf was improving so, I can relate to the ML's point about his 3. I still don't keep my 3 in the bag. Strictly a ten club golfer.

I'm taking my blade down the range tonight. But honestly I spend more time working on my 100 yards in shots. That's the money shot in my game.

Problem with this forum is, it makes me wanna try new stuff. When its all going well, that can't be wise, can it?

I wasn't replying to you, I was replying to Michael. I don't give any credence top the pov thats states nailing several long irons on a range is remoteley similar to hitting ONE shot on a course, when it would be far better to have the most forgiving club for your own ability. If thats a blade then great, but the internet is full of people who can muller bladed long irons down a range all day long yet more and more pros are now using hybrids, inc Harrington

That seems abit negative to me , anyway i wasnt trying to make myself look good because i arent i was just pleased that i was hitting most of the shots well and as stated before there is a reason i am only going to the range at the moment that is the long layoff from golf so i am trying to get my ball striking something like before going out on the course .
