I have just ordered a Gokart for  £199 and I can return it in 28 days if Im not happy but I was in my local golf shop this morning and got onto the subject of leccy trollies. Anyway to cut a long story short I managed to haggle him down to £199 for a motocaddy S1 digital which was intially out if my price range at £269.

Does anyone on here own the Motocaddy and if so what are they like. They seem to be a sturdier trolly than the Gokart but I have read good stuff about the GK.

Someone pls help

Thanks

I know the service ig outstanding at GK but I am more interested in the quality of the S1 digital and how it compares to the GK

As you've got a Gokart on a returns basis youve the ideal chance to see for yourself, see how it goes, if you like it keep it, if you dont get the Motocaddy from your golf shop.

As far as the Motocaddy performs, I can't help you there, sorry, but there should be some chaps along later to tell you their experience with that trolley.

I am not sure the Motocaddy is sturdier than the GoKart.  I have a GoKart and to me it seems pretty damn sturdy over any terrain.  I think sometimes people confuse plastic with reduced strength and that isn't always the case.

I have  a Motocaddy S3(same as the S1,but with a few toys)and find it very reliable.

It's  quite, very smooth, sturdy, and the battery,after 22 holes(extra holes game) seemed to have loads of power left.

When I first used it, the display was not quite right.A quick telephone call to Motocaddy, and despite the fact I had not even registered it yet, within 24 hours I had a replacement.

It's also very easy to get in and out of a car,and get ready.Easier than a Powacaddy IMO.

However the GK has many supporters, for the unit and customer care.

ive had an s1 for 3 months now. i find it sturdy, powerful, easy quick assembly. no prolems with it, a very smooth quiet trolley imo. i would consuder it seriously if i was getting it for £199.

i understand what the other guys are saying about the go-kart warranty but if your trolley is well enough made you wont have to deal with customer care hopefully. i havent had any warranty issues with motocaddy and i hope i never will.

go-kart may have a good customer care dept but why have most people who have bought from them had to contact them. nobody has ever raised this issue. why?

hope this helps keef

My experience goes both ways, I got a couple of emails by Gokart asking how things were with the trolley shortly after purchase and a few months on, so I sent them an emails back telling them all was fine and I'm happy with it, if your talking problems well I've manged to break the lower bag strap which was my fault, this was kindly replaced at no cost next day, and the front mudguard started to foul with detrious in the worst of the weather, I mailed them about it and they sent me a modified front guard free of charge next day, this solved the problem if you could call it that straight away.

There's nothing to hide, what surprises people IS the great service you receive even after you bought the thing, very rare these days as I'm sure you know.

Same with me, no actual problems just constant contact for feedback and such like. Most recent was when they wanted to upgade my GoKart with the latest version of the motor and tweak a few bits to bring it up to spec with the latest designs (bearing in mind that mine was bought very soon after they first came on the market). All of this at no cost to me and always the offer of a loaner whilst the work was carried out.

Cant comment on the GoKart but bought a power pro 250 sport digital for my dad recently and he is delighted with it. He sent the motocaddy s1 back as some of his friends had lots of problems with the back axle breaking, but i believe they have now rectified this fault.

He plays on a very hilly course and at the moment the battery is still showing almost full after 18 holes. It is light easy to assemble and good on rough terrain. His playing partners were so impressed they 2 of them have ordered the same one. it has excellent reviews from most forums. You can get it for £179 at   http://www.powerprogolf.com/acatalog/Golf_Trolley_250_Sport.html

Really don't want to comment on the pros and cons of a GoKart versus a Motocaddy, but I will make one observation.

Try to have a go of a S1 digital. It has the same potentiometer as the S3, ie the flush mounted circular one, rather than the Powakaddy-esque one.

I found the same control on my S3 infuriating and the most user-unfriendly potentiomemer I have come across on any trolley.

A change of hands means a reversal of the hand action used to control the trolley i.e. turning inwards rather than outwards.

Leaning over the trolley can cause the switch to accidentally activate..sending the trolley off on its own merry way.

I personally found my S3 slightly under-powered on a hilly course with a heavy (17.5Kg) bag, as I did with all of its cousins from the same chinese factory that seem to use the same switch gear (Powerbug, Hillbilly Terrain etc..)

That said, I might just be ham-fisted..but try the control..I suspect it's a "marmite" switch (you either love it or loathe it!)

Where can you get a motocaddy for £199? I have a gokart and very happy but my mate wants a motocaddy (secretly I am glad about as I am still the only one with a gokart on my course).

I would say the go-kart is the quickest set up / take down of any trolly i have seen, literally 10 seconds after the bag is off it is in the boot of my car.

Stuart I managed to haggle the price down at American Golf at Crewe and it wasn't difficult. I asked them for their price and they quoted £220. I explained that I only had £200 to spend and if they could do that price they had a deal if I didn't like the GoKart.

I bought a GoKart in September 2007 and have been very happy with it. Only problem I had with the speed control failing was fixed in three days and a replacement was shipped to me so I wasn't with out a trolley.

Well its arrived today and initially Im impressed with GK. Its easy to assemble, it looks good and it came with a free travel bag because I had to wait for delivery.

Im playing tomorrow morn so I will let you know it performs. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Same as Keef - I was told about delay and given a free carry bag - My Gokart arrived yesterday just as I was about to go and play a round. I opened the very nice box and was well impressed - in the instructions it said even though an 8 hour charge is recommended the battery is 80% charged so you can use straight away - say no more! Off I went with my new trolley and it was brilliant - despite a downpour and playing like a complete novice I still enjoyed having the trolley, I've had a trolley once before; a cheapo from ebay and despite having a battery the size of a bungalow it ran out of puff after 6 holes - not so the Gokart it ate up my course no probs even without a charge. I was a little worried about it being plastic but it feels very sturdy and you don't have to worry about putting it in the car wet.

It was my 50th b/day yesterday and despite a bad head this a.m. I had to come online to sing the gk 's praises I also like the company's professional but human service.
