Bill

your post was sanctimonious I have to agree with Bronty.

The issue is not whether or not Glenn is dyslexic or can use spellchecker. The issue is with the content of his posts which have varied from obscure to controversial,  to rabid rants about solicitors and DSS inspectors, with the odd reasonable newbie question thrown in here and there.  I suspected he was a troll because that was exactly how a troll might behave to stir things up on GM. I don't care whether it's spelled correctly or not, the issue i have is with the content, and if you read many of the posts on various threads, so do many other GM posters.

Get off your high horse - people can be  provocative and inflammatory whether they are disabled or dyslexic or not-  and the existence of one of those conditions does not excuse such behaviour.

I think that a lot of people join golf clubs and expect the membership to go out of their way to make you feel part of the club, find people for you to play with and help you out over the initial few months.  In an ideal world yes this would happen but people have to realise that the onus is on you to make the effort, you have to make the effort to put your name down with strangers, stay for a drink afterwards, join in some of tke knockout competitions.

Support the functions, these are the social events that make the club tick, you will soon get to know a number of faces which will make life easier.

I joined my club 6 years ago and knew nobody, it hasn't been easy but I now know a lot of the membership can ruck up and play with just about anyone and pop in for a pint quite regularly.

If you go out with a chip on your shoulder and expect the world to come to you then it won't the onus is on the new boy I am afraid.

Personally I always try and welcome new people and play with them if I am around and they are looking for a game.  The only exception to this is some guy who joined off here and for the life of me I can't remember his name as I lost his email!!!
