Does this sound ok or does it just sound and look rubbish?

Personal Profile Previously in my free time before attending University I had my own game server rental business online. This involved raising cash to purchase co-location at Redbus Interhouse located in London. This was then used to provide members of the public the option of purchasing dedicated co located game servers. This seems like it should go under the heading of career history rather than personal profile. Personal profile should be along the lines of "I am hardworking, dependable, willing to learn..." etc.

I would not mention Redbus and would also not mention that the business was just for fun. Change it to something like "I set the business up to make some money to pay for University and it taught me about customer satisfaction and market awareness"

Hope this helps.

Keep the content to the point, and geared towards your strengths and achievements. If you want it to even be read, make it simply laid out, do not use coloured paper or unusual text (Times New Roman is most popular) and not more than about one and a half pages. Most companies who advertise for jobs have hundreds through the door for each post. I know for a fact that many get binned without even being looked at for the above reasons.

Remember a CV is to get you a job, so don't put in things like. I spend all my spare time watching porn and chatting to a load of stangers on the internet about my seedy habits, even if you do.

Everyone laughs about the Jobcentre, but check their website for CV hints and sample CV's for a variety of different situations/experience.

Totally agree some of the best worded and laid out CVs I have seen have been from the job centre data base.

Sounds like something to put in with 'work experience' or perhaps some kind of 'skills' section. As for a Personal Profile, I wouldn't bother writing too much along the lines of 'i'm hard working, a great team player, I smell nice' as its a complete load of rubbish. Anyone can write that, and you probably don't have the space (2pages max) to provide any evidence of it.

Your CV is to state your qualifications and relevant skills and experience. Perhaps you can include a few lines under 'interests' where you can say you play golf, go dogging etc.

Use your cover letter to try and charm the recruiter, where mentioning the details and your 'team'  skills can be made more subtly rather than just stating that your amazing.

But what the fuck do I know, I keep failing interviews myself!

Yeah I got my intrests condensed to 3 lines.

Lol well that was great advice till the last line lmfao!

Kieron

go to a bookstore and buy "Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions". Great stuff for prepping for interviews, but the first bit of the book is how to identify opportunities and how to write your cv to maximise your chances of success.  i can't recommend this book highly enough

It does sound big headed!  And if you think straight out of college you are as good as you can get with interviews you are deluded !!!

LOL

didn't say I was as good as I can get, you can always get better, but im pretty good and think I should be able to get a job pretty easily!.

Um... actually you did say

"but im prob as good as I can get with interviews."

Anyway, half of the book is about finding opportunities and writing a good cv so its still worth a look.

I agree with the above comments that this isn't a personal profile but if it needs to be added to enhance the validation of comments made about yourself, keep it simple - it is too convoluted.
