I was looking on ebay for spine finders other than the JB one which was more expensive theres one called spinefinder and is only around £12 anyone had an experience with this item?! does it work!? Thanks

the $25 one....???

looks cheap and nasty....made of PVC tubing so will potentially bend and warp under pressure when you exert force on the shaft.

Doesnt appear to have any means of securing in a vice (unless the appropriate fin is not visible in the picture).

would steer clear myself and buy the JB version (which I have done and its a superbly put together piece of kit). also JB supplied comprehensive instructions for use and explains about single and multiple spined shafts and what different orientation positions you can put the spine/neutral bend point in.

Yep agree with Nick just get the JB one and be done with it. I looked into buying 'pillow bearings' off Ebay and making my own you will need 15mm diam ones and bolt them in-line on a piece of hard wood. Then use a free bearing to rotate for spine. This will cost you about £30 all in with hard wood but will not be as easy to use as a JB for £15 or so more.

Ok thanks ordered the Jb one was cheap anyway in the end just under £40

Exactly...enjoy playing with it and let us know if you think it makes a difference.

Bugger just put some clubs together without knowing about this doh!!

Could I re-use a graphite shaft if I pulled it and then spined it and refitted it? Or does the pulling process ruin the graphite shaft.(I have a puller and heat gun)

Show/hide user stats
Make sure you put lots of pre-set pulling tension on the shaft first, before you start using the heat gun, so it take the minimum amount of heat to soften the glue and pull the shaft and heat hosel area evenly. I have pulled and resused one graphite shaft over 10 times, with no probs so far.

One JB Spine finder sold then, is the pro version worth the extra? Thinking of buying a Cobra and it has an Aldila fitted which I will spine align.

The thing you will find with most graphite shafts is that they have more than one spine. One may be dominant but no guarantee. With graphite it is best to FLO imho, despite what JB says. As to whether you need the Pro version to handle the larger diameter butts, well if you intend to go with spining then the answer is yes, if you intend to FLO graphite the answer is no as you can skip the spine finding step. Each to their own.

Probably the wrong thread but you guys seem pretty clued up.

How easy is it to fit a shaft into a Titleist head given that it is a bore through design? I am not really sure what this entails compaired to a normal head, link below. The head has been preped and is ready to accept a shaft according to the ad.Got my SQ5900 from this guy and it is tops.Shaft was easy to instal in the nike is it as easy in the titleists?

Through-bore reshafting

Tells you everything you need to know. It is very easy. And so is putting a link in if you use the little "chain" icon above
