Cheers Ian.

It has been difficult but the low guys get worked up if they think that they have to make birdie to win the hole and sometimes even for a half. So even when they win a hole with good play i just try to make sure that I only lose by one stroke, if I can. That and ignore the odd bad hole that I have.

It's also helpful to mention that you're stroking on the tee of each hole that you're due one.

Disagree with all the supposisions about low handicapers.
I play off 11 and would fancy my chances against anyone in our club(scratch).
if i have to give lots of shots i think the high handicaper has the advantage.
lots of people have high handicaps because they cant put 18 holes, not because they cant make pars or birdies.
Hense you have the upper hand without the shots.
Thats what makes it so interesting, half empty, half full.

I played in a match this weekend in a regional knockout. I'm off 15 and my partner is off 13, and we were playing against a 6 and a 7 handicapper on their home course.

it was a cracking game, we won on the 18th but of the 18 holes, 11 were won or halved  with net birdies, 1 with a net eagle, and 6 with nett pars.  All 4 players played well, i reckon the handicapping system worked out just about right!
