Which ones?

I'm looking at buying a new 3 wood and driver.  I've tested the G5 (driver and 3 wood on stiff shafts) with great results.  Question is,  how different are the G10's to the G5's?  Which one would you go for?

my own feelings now towards golf equipment is very simple. I have played golf for 2 years and I have never come across a sport more full of " spin "( rubbish) in my life. I would buy a G2 if you want a driver. Thats what I am looking for right now. One has light blue paint, one has navy paint and one has orange paint and the new g20 will have green paint 48" shaft and hit the ball further than before

I'm a huge fan of Ping but I hit their irons, not their woods. Have you tried Taylormade?

For me the mixture is sublime.

I have tried both the g10 driver and 3wood and they were both fantastic. I haven't tried the g5 though so can't coment on that.

The G10 has to be better because it is newer , I wonder how many people buy new clubs and regret it afterwards, I have a G5 and was thinking the same thing myself should I get the G10, I was waiting to T off and a guy behind was stood with his G10 so I asked him what the difference between the two were and in his opinion nothing.

IMHO the head has very little to do with it apart from asthetics. It's all in the shaft, get a driver which you have been fiited for don't buy on brand name alone smaller companies like Ben Sayer MD golf and Benross do quality products as well.

Thanks for the advice and opinions.

Definately food for thought.

G5's work for me,  so I'll give them one more test run,  and they are cheaper

i use a g5 driver and a g10 fairway 3w. imo i dont see any difference between the drivers but i find the g10 fairways much better than the g5 fairways. the g10 3w sits better at adress and has a nice shalow head for fairway shots. i have the v2 hl shaft reg in both clubs. my only advice is to go for whichever club works for you.

the G10 fw slopes from the front and almost into the fairway makeing it appear asthetically good (I play the G10 3W) a definate improvement on the G5 and easy off the tee and fairway. As for drivers my mate plays a G2 and I have been through several drivers in that time and only found one that he prefers over it (Nike SQ460) Stick with the G2/5 Driver as the G10 is no real improvement. The fairway woods have improved.

Ping G10. Great driver for me with the TFC129 shaft.

Read my forum post 'Are we being hoodwinked' in the equipment section of this forum.

I have the G10 driver and 3 Wood. Mainly because I am a sucker. I tried quite a few but went for them as they seemed nice to me. I am sure there would not be that much actual difference if I had gone for any other mid range or premium brand of driver or one of the older models. Although I will say that I do prefer the head shape of the 3 wood to a lot of the others that I see which I find to be too chunky.

got the G5 3w and its bloody awesome never hit the G10 but what a club on the tee and off it. it just flys high  long and straight. wow O wow its a lot cheaper than the G10 but if you have the money, and you have tried the G10 then good luck but you really wont be disappointed with the G5 got mine foe 89.99 at nevada bobs in liverpool street
