Well it wasn't for the faint hearted was it? Good job we're not faint hearted then isn't it? Just geograpically challenged

That is a serious golf course and in that wind it was brutal so MindThePond's 30 points was an excellent return and good reward for low accurate driving & approach play and a reliable putter. I really enjoyed your company Brian, you've got a a very sound golf game.

Equally, I enjoyed your company Crux, to keep playing your golf and good humour in such challenging conditions will stand you in good stead in your future golfing career. Many thanks.

Danny The Pro off scratch must have played some good golf too to take second place with 29 points.

Thank you very much for coming today lads (and lass) it was great to meet/see you hope to do it again soon. Maybe at Cleveland Brian that would be great, I know Chris Curry recommends it so it would be good to campare it with Seaton Carew.

It was bizarre to be hitting 140 yard 3 irons into the wind and 160 yard wedges downwind

I recall that Par 3 on the back 9 into the teeth of the gale, about 165yds, i took a 4i off the tee, then a 40yd putt along the fairway to get on the green, rather bizarre to say the least. Danny played very well, i think he shot 79 in total though he did have a double bogey when he was trying to show us how the pro's can take a driver off the fairway for the second shot, only just missed the fairway with it but got tangled up in some rough stuff. He is going through a rough patch with his putting though and did miss 3 or 4 four footers but his driving and approach play were great (he was about 10yds short of one of the 350yd par 4's with one drive, was with the wind though! ).

Cleveland would've been just as easy today.

As a pure links experience Cleveland is magic unfortunately the scenery isn't as good as Seaton because you're much closer to the steelworks, chemical plant & nuclear power station!

I'd love another go at Cleveland... But they were protecting the fairways last time I played in winter.

Just had a quick butchers at the Cleveland golf club website to be nosey, do you think their photographer has ever seen a golf course before!?   Hardly great advertising!

Shame cos you can get some loverly sunsets over the steel works.  Real difference tween SC and Redcar is at Redcar you actually get to see the sea!! One of the reasons I like places Like Hartlepool and WHitby is cos of their scenic situation!!

Back to SC - did anyone manage two points on the 17th? I guess no-one did if it was into the wind.

Ha-ha, Chris Curry told me that I should try playing it when it's really windy

Totally out of my depth, but what a great day. Thanks to Brian and Paul for putting up with me because I did lose more balls than I scored points and they were never anything but supportive and good natured. A real pleasure to play with.

Was great also to meet more people from the forums.

Tom, I managed a point at last, but the wind was with and from the left so I guess it was a little easier. Also the tee wasnt in its usual place back amongst the blackthorn on the right, they were using a tempory tee over the other side of the 16th green which was a bit of a cheat so I am not counting my point as having cracked the jinx...

Reminds me of when I played in a Pro Am at the club I was working at.   On the 2nd hole, one of my team, who was a member, asked me what club I worked at.

"This one", I replied, "for the last three months"!!

We'll have to ask ProV1x for the scores on 17 as he took all the cards, not sure but think i got 2 points there? Wind was totally opposite the last time we played there, into the wind on the front 9 and pretty much with the wind on the back 9. Reflected this on my scoring at least, as it was 15/9 last time and 7/15 this time.

I was nearly the same, 3 points and 5 lost balls on the 8th tee and i felt like chucking in the towel (i did actually say to the guys that i was going to walk back to the clubhouse and wait for everyone). I think what helped was the change in direction of the wind but mainly......... having the pro who teaches me on hand to give comments and tips to get me going again. Nice!

Hey Kefkef, has your pro put his bill in yet, 4 hours of a lesson! better take a mortgage out!!!

No not yet, haha, though he has had some decent referals from me for people who want lessons or new drivers/irons, so i think he might owe me yet! haha. To be honest, i do think he should be paying me as he's got a competition at Royal Liverpool next weekend so that should have been good preperation!
