Well done to David Howell in winning the BMW at Wentworth.
He deserved to win and seems like a really nice guy.

Nice guy, tremendous putter. As someone wrote this weekend "beware the injured golfer". He played pretty well for someone with a bad back.
|
 |
Good one Dave. Had you in my TG fantasy side.

Takes him into the Top Ten on the OWGR for the first time. He's playing a bit in teh US, but he's an exemplar of the fact that you can succeed on the European Tour -- he said after beating Tiggy-Woo in China that he had no plans to abandon the ET, and I honour him for that.
Well played, DH. On all counts.

DH is fab, a gent, modest, and a great golfer. I thought this year he might win a Major and the signs so far are that he has a shot.
|
 |
Yep - I'll echo that, he's getting used to winning and sometimes that is all it takes.
|
 |
Hear hear to all the above. Looks like it's possible to be very good and a nice bloke at the same time. Good Luck to him.
|
 |
He seems very grounded compared to Poulter and Casey. Hope he continues to do well.

_of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) A real gent....lets hope he kicks on from here!
The only decent thing to come out of Swindon! (apart from the M4 east!)

Was watching David Howell practicing putting on Tuesday and his stroke was all over the place. Must have sorted it out though.

True gent indeed! ...never gets the girls and would never be seen drunk swearing at the 18th flag at 2 am just before pi**ing into the bunker.
Maybe he's spending too much time talking to Allis or maybe he wasn't a junior member at my club ;0)
Either way congrats to a brit for winning, good on ya!
|
 |
Can't see why he wouldn't get the girls Trev. And if he didn't before, then he surely will now. Good luck to them ;)

LGL, DH has had the same girlfriend, who may well be his fiancée, for years. She has been around at the Seve and the Ryder, as well as many other events.
If there's any change in that, it's recent. And, on the strength of DH's public persona, personal. He does not look like someone who would drop a longtime love just when he has groupies buzzing at his knees. But I have heard nothing about them breaking up.

nice guys. beating tiger in china was some feat and another great victory. hope he carries it through to ryder cup.
OT - is it just me or does his swing look like he should be wearing a flat cap and a wee bit of the lee evans about it. not criticising it of course. i'd take 1% of that swing and be happy. but its just the way he finishes. maybe its frank spencer?
just me probably :)

I'm sure you're right V, I was just commenting on the remark that he never gets the girls! He comes across as a pretty down to earth and humble guy and not the "playaway" type at all.

_of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) Dave Howell was a junior a Broome Manor in Swindon....a good old "blue collar" muni in a "blue collar" town.
They have a great junior section and produce plenty of really good players!
