Here it is. This shows I'm starting to improve my inside takeaway, but it's nowhere near there yet.

Nice smooth swing, I like. Looks bloody cold there though

 I.M.H.O that looksc great.

Thanks, it's getting there, but it's still too handsy and too long. It was bloody cold too! You can see it better face on

Why worry about it being long? You'll soon lose that flexibility as you age Seriously, many people would trade their swing for yours, looks like you have a really nice tempo and timing and I wouldn't try to change it myself, then again you've seen my swing , am still waiting for a front on shot of mine. I would liken your swing to this guy as far as tempo, just maybe a touch flatter.....Click me

Thanks! I guess there are similarites now I'm hitting more through the ball. If I could keep my rhythm as well as Monty I'd be happy, but it's too inconsistent and my over swing is down to too active hands early on. It's not a big thing, and I'm comfortable with the swing changes. I wanted to post this as a "before" video. I'll get some shots of the changes soon .

Yuk, you can really see me chicken wing it in the face-on vid, but I seem to have escaped without too much harsh comment!

A couple of things i noticed from a technical point. All my observations how i like to think of swinging a club Face on- Back swing creates a bit of reverse tilt, right leg straigtens. Forward swing looks like leaveing weight behind, which is a product of reverse tilt. A very nice swing though. weather does like a bit wild, cant wait fof summer

Hi Oldschool, I think my right leg straightens a little because of the overswing rather than a reverse pivot. I'm a rotary type/ome plane swinger and focus on keeping my weight a little more on the left side. You're right about not getting it across though. I can see from my release here I've no commited through the ball enough, but I'm working on it. Thanks for the comments though. p.s. this was quite a warm day compared to freezing my arse off on Friday at the range in 60 mph winds, rain, sleet and snow!

Hi 23rd... Quick comment on "I think my right leg straightens a little because of the overswing"... I would profess the opposite of this is true... in that you overswing because your right leg straightens. I strongly believe that anyone in that boat needs to keep better control of their lower body, to me that is the cause, the overswing is the effect. This is something I've struggled with in past... tips to do half swings etc. imo do not work, as your brain limits your arm swing when in fact it is the over-rotation of the hips/lower body which is causing most of the problem. Anyway, I've harped on about this before... but if you think it relevant let me know and I'll post some links and more info on what I mean. Good Luck, Chris

Hi Chris, Thank, buddy. I actually filmed this video for a lesson with Paul Dickinson who's Chuck Quintons fellow instructor of the rotary swing. I've just received my online lesson and he noticed the biggest flaw - one that no one else picked up - is that my shoulder plane shallows out as I swing back meaning I have to dip to get back to the ball. I'm correcting it by working on a drill where you cross your arms over your chest and simply rotate around your spine angle before shifting your weight to the left and rotating through. I've made some swings after doing this and most of the other issues clear up as my swing immediately becomes more compact. This isn't to say your comments don't have merit though . Dean

Lovely effortless swing mate. Quick question: Do you have the same long swing for all your clubs 23rdman? or do you shorten it for irons as you have to strike down more?
Good question. I'm trying hard to shorten it for ALL clubs, Suky. There are some fundamental flaws that I'm addressing and shortening the swing to make it more reliable is just one of them.
The shallow plane as you describe it is fine imho, look at Immelman for comparison. Do you struggle with either low hooks or high blocks? generally, do you struggle with height with your irons?

wormburner, It's not the top of the backswing position I'm worried about - although I've since started allowing my hands to get higher which is giving me a little more freedom. The position that's flat is 9 o clock. From there I have to manipulate the club to get it back on plane. That along with the manipulation from takeaway to get it off plane is what I'm working to correct. Less moving parts! I'm also working on maintaining my spine angle. You can see at the top if you freeze it that my shoulders have shallowed out form the original angle. I've started to stand a little taller to allow me to turn with a little more freedom, which has helped. I'm now able to hit the ball higher and I've almost eradicated my pull/hook. Basically, I've realised I'm happier with a more two plane swing than strictly one plane which feels too restrictive to me. I'll post a new vid when I get my new camera.

Hmmm, do you have a bad shor low hook, or push?
Not really. I've started to get a slight push, but can't remember the last time I hit a straight out hook. I used to suffer a really bad pull hook, but since sorting my grip out, which was too strong and aiming to hit the inside back of the ball and changing my backswing to a slightly more upright one it's almost gone.
Hmmm, its difficult to see on the vid, but I think you at laying off at the top, the hooks will have gone because you are correcting it coming down, bit the pushes wil be from bad timing. Dunno, but the wrist does look bowed. Graham Macdowell does it and is trying to sort out the same issue.
