So, its been a while since I took some swing vids and thought tonight at the range I'd get a few new ones. The range we used tonight doesn't lend itself very well to taking face on videos, so these are only from the down the line view.

Rip them to shreds guys. I don't care. Its working now, and as long as the balls are going long and straight I'm unlikely to change them, but always interested in hearing your views on what could be done to improve them.

Let's hear your views.

Hi Colin,

Not bad at all mate! You have good balance and get through the ball to a nice finish - that's a great sign.

Obviously your build limits your turn and affects your posture. How tall are you? I reckon your driver is too long and you have your hands way too far from your body, but that could be dictated by your build. You generate a lot of speed and lag though.

Thanks 23rdman. I'm 5ft 10", and my build does dictate the way I set up to the ball and swing at it. That current driver is actually 1/2" shorter than standard, i believe 44.5", but I'm happy enough with it to be honest. Believe me, I've tried everything with my swing, and the way I swing at the moment is helping me play the best golf of my life.

Ooh, I like this, great balance, love the little wrist cock/set on top of backswing. Lots of power and control. As said already you could stand a smidge closer to the ball with the driver.

Colin, with that swing you should be lower than 17. Go work on your short game, mate. Out of interest, who's swing model/teaching are you following?

Thanks Creo.

At the moment 23rd, I am playing in or around a 10-12 handicap. Actually last Saturday in the winter league I played to a 7, so I know I can get lower. I've always struggled with the mental side, but I'm getting there. I worked on my short game at the end of last year, and finished 2nd in two competitions, but unfortunately they weren't counting rounds to wards handicaps, so I was only able to get cut 1 stroke for general play. Come April, if I hit the ground running, definite aim is at least a 12.

Currently, I'm not really following anyone's teachings. I've been for lessons in the past, and my swing doesn't resemble any of the pros I've been to see. I've taken advice from a few teaching pros on the various golf forums around, and used their advice to get my swing to where it is now. Also having been through 4 sessions of physio now on my lower back, I'm now able to get into position a lot better. I used to stand up through impact due to lack of flexability. Now I can actually touch my toes, and the exercises I've been doing are golf specific, so hopefully in time I'll become even more flexable.

10 is much more like it, mate, and plenty of swing there to go lower as you mentioned. I hope your back is fixed now and you get plenty golf out of it. Yoga has really helped me with my flexibility so I'm all for a good stretching regime.

Actually, my physio has got me doing medical pilates exercises to get my back freed up a bit. It's certainly on the mend, but there's a bito f work to be done. Thankfully he says its not the golf thats causing the problems, its purely posture related, thanks to years sitting on my arse in front of a computer on chairs and at desks that don't suit the purpose. That'll teach me. I know have a 10 minute stretching routine that I do before golf. I fogrgot this morning and was tight till the 6th hole where we had to wait on the group in front. I done my stretching then, and hey presto, back nice and loose and was able to play to my full potential again. From now on, I'll just get up 15 minutes earlier and incorporate that into my warmup.

Colin,

Looks a good repeatable swith to me.

I may be quite wrong but you look a little tense around the jaw and shoulders (have look at your video).

If you exhale throughout your swing you just can't tighten up and that will help you have a really smooth swing, give you more distance and a better feel of the ball.

With that swing there is no reason why you shouldn't be down to single figures by the end of this year.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Erskine. I understand what you mean, I'll have to have a try at that. Single figures, eh? Here's hoping.  I'll certainly be trying my best, thats for sure.
