The technology must exist to archive any old threads that have been dormant for a period of time. This would rob certain imbecilic individuals of their jollies. And if they can't be archived then can't they be locked? That way they'd be available for reference purposes.

sound like a good idea to me, come on mods, pull it together. ps, love the anti troll signs, nice one.

Come one guys, it'll take the techies about 3 months to write the software to lock/archive the threads.

do you have any easier solutions bt? there must be some way of limiting access to files over a certain age.
|

you certainly are. youre just too stupid for words! keep em coming, this is fun

Whats the point in limiting them? If someone wants to disrupt the site they can create new threads or keep bumping old ones. Either way it achieves the same thing, having a more limited view of threads will not stop it.
My point was that with the software used in this site they have very limited actions that can be performed (as we can already see by the lack of action in stopping this), anywhere else with "normal" forum software can easily stop the trolls, but here someone has to rewrite some code !!

The mods can already lock threads so there's no code needing to be re-written to do that. Just takes a little "housework" doesn't it?

Tim Ellis wrote (see) The mods can already lock threads so there's no code needing to be re-written to do that. Just takes a little "housework" doesn't it? Maybe time to switch the hoover on, I think. The whole site is becoming overrun by this tw@t.

I agree, lock threads over a certain date and leave them available for reference. Still liking the ignore user button.
