As you say it's a matter of balance. I also said spinal tilt is less important with a rotary swing that a to plane swing. with irons it's probably enough with a rotary or one plane swing to have the amount of tilt established naturally by having the right hand lower than the left on the grip - maybe a hair more, but with the driver a little more helps with a shallow attack.

Interesting....I suspect I am on a 2 plane swing but I'll feedback once I have figured it out...

23rd man... So if I read you right we should be looking for a small spine tilt  on irons as well as Driver ... ie when hitting down on the ball

Interesting as I only thought it was important using a Driver or "sweeping" a fairway wood/hybrid..

I have had problems with over doing the tilt (pushing me out of balance) with the Driver. Things have improved since I think of raising the left hip as opposed to leaning over!!!
