I don't use the hot-rod method as that weakens the graphite shaft.
Keep the heat on the face near the hosel and the hosel near the face. Stay as far away from the composite joint as possible. Use a heat gun if you are not really comfortable with a micro-torch. Keep the heat moving.
I don't use a wet rag to wrap the head as I have done it a few times now.
Use a Ferrule Shield with chamois between it and the paintwork to push the head off with a quality puller (a good quality puller is essential for this job) but you may still leave marks in the paint, and the face may discolour if you do not use the chamois, or have to use too much heat.
It can take longer to break down the epoxy so patience is a virtue.
Just watch the heat and I make sure I can always touch the joint between the Ti and the Composite with my finger without being burned...do this at your own risk !
Keep a good hold on the head as if it releases quickly it may shoot across the room.
Depending on the shaft (350 or 335) you are replacing you need one of two ferrules. The hosel is 350 and putting a 335 shaft in needs a slightly longer hosel that shims it into the head.
