Hi folks

I've been having a few lessons recently, although a consistent problem in my iron play is striking the ball on the toe end of the club. The pro suggested I should have a word with the guys in their fitting centre about retro-fitting. I'm 6'2 and he reckons my irons (standard off the shelf titleist 704.cb's) are maybe a bit short for me, and possibly too flat also.

I've contacted the guys in the fitting centre and been advised that I will need to spend a bit of time in their fitting bay to check out my existing clubs and what the best set up for me is. This will cost £55. Adjustments to the clubs are extra at around £3/club for adjusting loft and lie, and £8/club for lengthening. This could mean up to around £160.

Having read a lot about custom fitting I'm really keen to have a look at the right length and lie for me. However, I felt that the prices being quoted were a bit high?

What should I be expecting to pay for this service?

Thanks

If it helps, the prices I charge:

£5 to lengthen per club (assumes reusing existing grip)

£2.50 to shorten per club (assumes reusing existing grip)

£30 Dynamic loft and lie check of each iron, adjusting loft and/or lie per person (max 13 irons)

OR

£20 Adjusting loft and/or lie per iron set (max 13 irons) ie. without the dynamic lie test

Interested to see that because that's more in line with what I would have thought.

Many thanks for this. This is more like what I would have been expecting.

Where are you based? Hopefully somewhere near Fife!!!

I had a look at the Titleist website and found a Titleist fitting centre and they were doing a special deal on loft and lie checks - £15. Spent a while hitting shots of the lie board and ended up finding a combination that was giving me a strike out of the middle. So the lie angle is now 2 degrees more upright and shafts have been lengthened by half an inch. It has made such a difference - shot my best round of the year the other day and can't wait to get out again tomorrow.

It just got me thinking - and this may be a daft question - is it possible to adjust lie angles on fairway woods and hybrids?
