Ive just started playing golf again after a year or so out, and have been given a brand new G10, but the shaft is broken.  I have absolutley no knowledge of shafts, so was after some advice.  Should I go for the Ping factory fitted or spend a few more quid and Aldila?  I have the Aldila (65 I think?) in my old G5, which I still hit well.  I play off 6, not sure of my swing speed, but Ive always had regular shafts.  Any advice of shafts or where to get them from?

Cheers in advance!

I have the G10 and love it to bits.

When I bought mine I had read that the standard Ping TFC shaft got the ball up in the air a little more than I might have wanted, so went for the GrafAlloy ProLaunch Red shaft in "regular" flex. My swing speed is not that fast, average I suppose, and I find the ball flight I get with my Driver  (10.5 degrees) is perfect for me. The ProLaunch Red is a very well respected shaft.

I went from Callaway "firm" shafted woods, and find that there isn't a lot of difference between the Prolaunch regular and those.

Don't know about the Aldila though....I had some of their shafts in some previous clubs and always got on well with them, but with the Prolaunch Red regular, I seem to have found the perfect shaft for my swingspeed.

A mate of mine (who has a G10 Driver fitted with the standard TFC shaft) had a go of mine down the range the other week. He's a good golfer, plays off 8 and belts the ball miles. He said he wished he had got his driver with the same shaft as mine as he feels his current club sends the ball a little too high too.
