Seems like the people behind the London Golf Show have decided to do a Birmingham Golf Show at the NEC this year, 16-18th November. Nice of them to remember the rest of us non-southerners.

http://www.golfshownec.com/

Advanced tickets are £10 (£5 juniors). But for a limited time if you enter the promotional code 'LAUNCH241' at the NEC boxoffice website you can select a 2for1 offer, so 2 tickets for £10.

American Golf seems to be an official retail partner of the show. Just hope it's not an exclusive deal, as a little retail competition would be nice at such shows. Hopefully they'll at least offer some show-only deals (with real savings, not just highlighting how much their normal prices save off the RRP) to get people to buy at the show. Otherwise you could just easily buy anywhere else. Golfsmith Europe will be doing free custom fitting there. I assume it'll be like previous shows with big manufacturers having tour-vans and demo areas, smaller trade stands, trick shot and fashion shows, holiday stands (hopefully not too many), etc.

The other people behind the UK Golf Show 2006 at the NEC, have moved venues for their April 2008 show. Think it's outdoors on an actual golf course in Northamptonshire. They'll have pavilions and purpose built demo ranges to keep everyone dry if it rains.

Just checked, the LAUNCH241 promotional code still works if anyone was wondering.

the london golf show this year was rubbish

i like the sound of the one in northampton, though

Yeah I think they took notice of the feedback from their first show and decided a more hands-on approach so you get to try equipment on a real golf course outside. Supposedly they expect 250 exhibitors with a stronger emphasis on equipment and fashion. I assume that means less holiday homes and the like.

Got an email today stating the 2for1 promotion ends in a few days. So better hurry if you want to use it.

I was at the London show and alot of people on here expressed their dissapointment at what they saw although the organisers seemed pleased with the numbers etc. What do people really expect from this show that would make them turn up because i cant imagine it will be vastly different.

Incase anyone is having problems ordering from the NEC boxoffice, seems they have changed websites:

The LAUNCH241 code seems to still work though. Also American Golf have the same offer if you buy tickets from them if you use the code bham241 at the shipping page:

Re April 2008 show - there is a problem with an outside venue and time of year scheduled for this event which could be weather - don't forget the exhibitors pay a lot of money to be there and with everyone out testing clubs around a course, who is going to be left wandering around in the rain purchasing from the exhibitor booths left behind paying for the event  in the first place.  If it rains - and I sincerely hope it doesn't, this event will not draw crowds outside - even European Tour events cannot draw significant crowds when the weather is poor and if the event is of the quality of the London Golf Show then we could all be very disappointed.

Lets not try to be too negative before April, it doesn't always rain! .  If I'm not mistaken over the last two years the weather has possible been better during March/April/May than in the summer months?  We brits are good at talking up the negative LOL

The organisers met a few of us from Golfmagic last year at Staverton and hopefully the London Golf Show is not even in the same league as the UK Golf Show 2008, that is providing they come up with the goods

Well...... they always say the proofs in the pudding - keep this post going until next June and get a forum going on feedback from the show and I do hope weather will prove me wrong.  The organisers of each of these events promises so much both to the golfer and to the exhibitor and it doesn't always seem to prove the case either way - honest opinion here !  I'm sure they will give it their best efforts - they have to after the London Golf Show which started off year 1 on a high and then stagnated.

Supposedly they will set up pavilions and purpose built covered demo bays to keep everyone dry if it rains. But hopefully it will be a nice day.

Just to avoid confusion the London Golf Show and next week's show in Birmingham are under the same umbrella organisation. The UK Golf Show (to be held at Whittlebury Park, next to the Silverstone race circuit in April and hopefully not requiring an umbrella) is a separate event with different organisers, sponsors and exhibitors.

too many golf shows that dont cut it in my opinion, must have seen about 10 advertised this year. they should do one massive trade show and 1 massive public show or do 1 massive one and split it to 2 days trade and 2 days public. then everyone would want to be there and everyone would want to go instead of big let down.

these companies should get together and make a big success of it
