I enjoyed this review, Bob, but was surprised by your final verdict of disappointing, and 7/10. You seem pretty positive about it most of the time - where did it disappoint you? Was it only playing it off the fairway (which many people don't even do with a driver, as far as I know). I'd be v interested to hear your reservations about the club, especially as I'm thinking of getting a new driver at the moment, and as you say, now's as good a time as any with the discount and with Christmas around the corner.

I'm with you Ollie, I was fortunate enough to be playing against the 'Steady Editor' in a rainy father/son showdown, during the Nike Test. At 17 handicap, I guess expecting to launch anything more than my 3 iron off the fairway would end in tears, but the Old Man has always had the Driver/Fairway thing licked and would never rate one that denied him of this, out of principal.
I've told you before Dad, It's not how many it's how far...

You cheeky devil! And this from someone who only plays in stablefords and matchplay because he can't complete every hole!

Sure, my view of the Nike driver Ollie, was somewhat influenced by an inability to strike it off the fairway, but over three rounds of 'first impressions' it didn't match the hype, for me, anyway. It was big and brash but apart from maybe three or four reasonable strikes, it didn't instill confidence and was difficult to control. The recent £150 drop in price (in some places even £180 off, I'm told) says a lot.
In the meantime son, let's compare medal cards in future!

Who needs to complete the hole when One derives sooooooo much pleasure from watching your Dad pick his tee peg up (the lucky one) with an "I flushed that Nike mutha" expression, then slotting my 3 Iron 30 yards past it!!! (7th hole) Soon as it stops hosing down, more of the same?

Last time he got pocket money from me Nick Faldo had just won his first Open! However, when we play it's usually pay-back time (£1-£1-£1) but the latest incident was a rare occasion!
We don't just communicate on line by the way!
