Recently went to my local sports emporium (soccer sports) & see that they are flogging 24 Dunlop DDH balls for less than £9.50.

I bought a box and so far have been well impressed , with the ball as well as the prioce .

Are they any good??

no,no,noooo! if you want cheap, really cheap, but decent balls go to asda, they sell em for £6 for 15 balls, winfields they are called, I've used em and they are not bad at all, and at that price you don't mind losing em. I tell you no lies.

i keep finding winfields...i honestly didn't believe anyone would own up to using them.
i commend your honesty.

Come on then boys , what do you recommend for the average weekend warrior bearing in mind i am just getting back into the game and have a talent for loosing balls at the moment!!!!

honestly, buy the winfields from asda, if like me you are verging on being a duffer, then you wouldn't gain anything in buying the top of the range balls, you wouldn't notice much difference, and while we tend to lose quite a few it could be very exspensive.

so, although the better golfer may cast scorn on the winfields they do whats expected of them, and now the weathers going colder and the leaves are making finding your balls harder it makes sense to use winfields, and they go just as far.

honestly.

Definitely not DDH (Dead Dead Hard) balls. Probably my least favourite of all time along with the Donnay Pro 1's!

For the winter you would be better off with lower compression as the balls get harder in the cold weather (oooh er missus!).

For a quid a ball you can get some reasonable deals. The Pinnacle Exception gets good reports and can be picked up for around £12 a dozen and direct golf are selling the Strata Tour Soft at £9.99 a dozen.

In truth there a lot of decent balls out there, it's just that the DDH's are not one of them.

I would recommend the Pinnacle Exception, don't be put off by the name, they are an exceptionally good ball for the price and ideal for the winter.
