Well, I haven't actually got them yet, but I won them on e-bay over the weekend.
The Ben Hogan Apex Edge clubs are on sale for about £500 at the moment. I saw these on e-bay, only used a few times, so bid £270 for them. Got in this morning and found I'd won! Don't know whether to be pleased or not. The missus will go mad when she finds out - I haven't told her about the Golf day yet! So that's double trouble.
I see there's a couple of user reviews here with good write ups. Have you used yours yet Donk? What do you think of them?
Any one else got any experience of these clubs?

I've just arranged to have some sent for testing by those nice people at Hogan near Cambridge. I've heard good reports of them - one of my regular playing partners is very dangerous off 16 handicap using a set. They look handsome irons with a strong ball flight. I'll report back with a review asap.

I reckon you'll love 'em Nick - you can't beat forged irons.
By all accounts they play as well as MX 20 Mizuno's (quite forgiving) - so they will be good.
I haven't read a poor review on them.
|
 |
You've got forged head clubs Al. Do I need to get iron covers to protect 'em?
|
 |
 I haven't - don't like 'em (visors etc.)
All that happens is the clubs get a litte bit dimpled where they rattle together - it does no real damage and quite honestly I think they're better a little bit worn looking. What you have to watch though is cleaning the mud and water off them + a spray of WD40 - but that's what I do with steel shafts anyway - otherwise you will get rust spots on the face and sole where the chrome gets marked. My Mizuno's are about 3 years old and still look great (but used)

It appears GOLFmagic is 'in association' with Ben Hogan.
You'll be in everyones good books Nick, nice bit of publicity for the brand.
|
 |
What exactly does 'in association' mean?
Anyone?
Bob?
|
 |
I've just noticed I've only bought 3 to PW - perhaps they could send me a sand wedge!!!
:-)

Lionel, in answer to your question about Ben Hogan's association with GOLFmagic: Ben Hogan have decided to use GOLFmagic as one of their marketing channels, alongside their other marketing activities like advertising in the mags, other press advertising, and the sponsorship of Monty.
The "in association with" is really a recognition that they wanted to have as big a blitz of promotion on the site as possible, and therefore being on every page in a prominent position is a great way for them to promote the brand to the GOLFmagic members. We used the term as it's used on other websites, to recognise the sponsorship and their commitment.
We're obviously extremely pleased that a brand like Ben Hogan has recognised that GM is a valuable way of reaching a large golfing audience, and are chuffed to have them on the site in such a prominenet position.
We're just happy that a company like Ben Hogan now recognises the size and influence of the GM membership, and is prepared to back that recognition with sponsorship and advertising.

Hey Nick, you gonna get some serious practice in with them Hogans before Wokefield?
|
 |
Should do, I hope they don't take too long to arrive. I usually go to the range two lunchtimes a week and I'm playing on the 23rd, so I hope to use them then.
I'm not too sure what to do about the lack of a sand wedge yet. I'll keep the Hippo one for now until I (hopefully) sell them, then decide whether to get a matching Hogan one, or a RAM FX which will match my lob wedge (I've seen one of them for £15).
