Mizuno wedges MP-T Black Nickel
Now in 47 degrees.

I have a 56 degree black ox and was after a Mizuno gap wedge and a normal PW if only they done them. I had read a thread about someone having to keep his cleveland PW as Mizuno didn't do normal lofted pitching wedges (his thread was praising the other Mizunos that he had bought) - which was true. Now they do!
The MP T series Black Nickel starts at 47 degrees (2006 catalogue). Maybe it is all in the mind but when you are used to the spin from a 'specialist' wedge, the normal 'set' wedge in your bag just doesn't seem like it will stop. To me it just doesn't look 'spinny'! Now that there is a black Mizuno spinny 47 degree wedge out there, it is my next buy!

B*stards.... Just last month replaced my sw with the MP-T so now got the 51, 56 and 60 deg...... love them to bits...
So now I'm going to want to replace my MP-30 PW with the MP-T ;-) (NOT !!!)

Wonder why they don't bring out the whole range of lofs for the MP-T ? Would make a unique set of clubs for sure

It's the MP 30 that I am thinking of replacing. Not sure why really, just think it will be better and I am trapped by the matching wedges trap! (But where should my matching irons stop and my matching wedges start????!)
Do you have the same feeling of confidence that the MP-T will stop dead/spin back but not so much with the MP30 wedge? It is probably nothing to do with the loft, more the appearance of the MP-T/Black Ox etc. I think my brain is saying that a chrome club cannot possibly impart as much stop as a black/rusty/raw haze one!!

I'm not going to change my PW though... if I damage it then I have a simple replacement option through the MP-T
Don't think they make any difference to the spin, If I remember rightly there is a rule which forbids coatings which can aid, think that natural rusting is allowed though (too anal and couldn't stand having a rusty club in my bag). So apart from reduced glare the coating on nickel or black wedges spin no more than the chrome ones... they of course have even regulated the grooves so that they again all have similar performance characteristics.
I do feel the mp-t stops better but that is mainly because it's at higher lofted club and they don't have an mp-3 60deg to compare with :-) All I ask of my PW is to stop dead at the 110y mark, which it does, so I'm happy

Does your MP30 wedge 'eat' the ball like the MP-T? It may well be that they do but we can't tell against the chrome. Sometimes the grooves on my black ox are white after hitting a good one.
Fair point though, if the wedge stops dead from 110yds....thats all you need.

Rik I'd love to put backspin on my 5 iron like the pro's :-)
Did it only once on holiday in tenerife, the ball was very warm and sticky and just caught it right with the iron... my mates could see the ball land and jump back a foot, thought I was showing off... I wish !!!
However the thought of a set of MP-T's would look cool....
I always thought it would be better to buy irons individually, you could then replace one iron if it becomes damaged (not sure if you can get a single mp-30 replaced or not) and only buy say the 5-PW or any combination that suits. Lots of manufacturers don't put the 3 iron in a set which lets you get a rescue, why not apply that rule to the rest ?
Must see if I can get say a spare 7 iron from mizuno to take down the range, got an old set of blades that I use instead currently, don't want to crap the face of my irons using range balls covered in abrasive mud.

I've been desperate to fill the gap so this 47 degree is going to be a godsend!!!!!!!

Problem is I'll need to drop another wedge to fit it in. Also, for some reason, I seem to struggle with the rest of my game. Particularly poor on putting and always seem to get outdriven!
