it depends what your looking for and how much your willing to cost i like to play with cup face fairways because i find big headed fairways havent got a good low centre of gravity. If your looking for a cup fairway macgregor make a good one i find my progen full bore works like a charm off the fairway its easy to control height and gets nice distance with a suprisingly soft feel off the face for a fairway. But if your lookign for a big headed one id look at things like nike or cleveland.

I recently bought an MD Golf 17* 4 wood for £40. I find this much easier to hit off the deck than a 3 wood and as long off the tee - I also play off 17.
Very impressed by the quality and performance is excellent - this replaced a Callaway Steelhead III 4+ which had a closed face - couldn't fade it to save my life!
Check out this link - for £47 you could have a 4 wood and Blackhawk utility (also excellent).

Cobra SZ or Mizuno MP-001 both work wonderfully well.

And you can pick them up really cheap now.

dont think you will find any grief with the Ping G2's , ive got the 3 and 5 and they have a lovely feel behind the ball and the smaller low head gives you confidence of the deck

Interesting to see the return to the shallow faced wood as really first used by Orlimar. My old Progen Full Bore Fairways had a shallow face and where great clubs but that shallow face meant it was sometimes too easy to get right under the club when hitting out of fluffy rough.

I would recommend the MP001 (lots of cheap options) or the Cleveland Launcher. The older steel Launchers with the gold shaft are gems and also going very cheap.
Both are easy to play off deck or tee.

The Cleveland Launcher's are awsome IMO and there are now 3 models to choose from. Some great deals can be had on the steel and titanium ones

JUST PURCHASED COBRA M SPEED 5 & 7 WOOD. I PLAY OFF 21 AND PLAY WITH A NATURAL FADE. THESE CLUBS ARE FANTASTIC!! THEY ARE OFFSET SO THEY CORRECT MY SHOTS IF THEY GO ASTRAY. THE 5 WOOD SAILS OUT TO 200-210 YDS WITH THE 7 WOOD HITTING 160-180. THEY ARE VERY EASY TO HIT OFF THE DECK AND ARE DESIGNED FOR PLAYERS WITH A MEDIUM SPEED SWING.

"Interesting to see the return to the shallow faced wood as really first used by Orlimar".

Browning made shallow faced woods and irons called ' low profile' successfully in the 70's & early 80's.

My mate has still got a 4 wood, and it's amazingly like todays rescues...
