Look very nice. Especially the 60* with the "Mack daddy" (crap name BTW!) grooves and PM grind.

Anyone tried these yet?

Nope, but hoping to get a 56* version in the darker finish.

They came top in a wedge test in one of the golf magazines (can't remember which)recently, so they must be good.

You mean Callaway took out a double page spread of adverts? ;)

Went down to my local Nevada Bobs this morning to try out some wedges.

I went in expecting to really like these. "On paper" they seemed to be just what I was looking for but I didn't like them at all. All of the lofts seemed to have a lot of bounce and looking down at the face, I couldn't help but envisage sculling one through the back of the green like a 3 iron! I thought the PM grind might have helped but even on the 60*, unless I really hooded the face, there was still that uncomfortable gap visible between the leading edge and the ground. I hit it ok in the net but it felt fairly heavy in the head.

What I did check out though, and was very impressed with, was the Srixon WG-504 wedges. I hadn't even checked these out before going in so had no pre-concieved ideas at all. I thought they looked amazing, sat nice and tight to the ground, and for me, seemed to have a perfect swingweight. I couldn't gauge feel very well due to them being taped up and hitting brick balls but otherwise I loved them.

Sorry to thread-jack my own thread but has anyone tried the srixons?

No, but I've seen them advertised and the 'Gun Metal' finish looks really good.

A little pricey at around £70, so I'd recommend you look at the TM RAC TP and Cleveland CG11.

ive hit a 58 pm grind. very, very nice the looks of a vokey with the feel of a forgwed wedge. great spin on full shots too

Alex,

Tried the cg11's and wasn't really impressed. Looked a bit awkward to me. I do like the Rac TP's though.

I reckon if the Rac TP's had the same swingweight on full shots as the Srixons, I'd be sold. I just loved the weight of the Srixons on full shots combined with the low bounce.

For me wedges are confidence clubs and if they have too much bounce, I can just see "thin" in my mind as I swing at the ball, but if they're too heavy in the head, I can see myself burying the head into the turf and fatting it!

The Srixon's just had the low bounce look and perfect swingweight that said to me "clean strike".

Very personal thing though, almost comparable to putters!
