Any opinions would be welcome. I play off 17 at present, using Ping I5's(previously used I3 +).I understand the Mx 20 are less offset than successors, which I would prefer.I have difficulty wwith longer irons,so how are thew Mx 20 in this way?

I have a set of Mx 20's and i love them , i tried all sorts before a settled for these ,x14's ,RAC's etc , they do have less offset than the MX23 it just looks right when you address the ball ,which is why i like them , the long irons are a dream to hit , you won't regret buying them if you do.

The MX20's are great clubs, more than good enough for virtually any player. They have less offset than the 23's but the 20's clubheads are quite chunky through the set down to the PW whereas the 23's get a little more compact towards the short irons, in case that might bother you. I'm guessing that the offset in the MX20 3-iron is about 5mm but you can ask Mizuno through the FAQ forum on their website for the clubs' measurements. It might be listed in a previous post already. I found the MX20 3- and 4-irons very nice to use when I tried a set.
However, what are your difficulties with the Ping (long) irons you're currently using and why do you think the MX20's might be better for you? By the way, I don't know much about the I5's.

MX 20's replaced my beloved Mizuno Comp EZ's and have, apart from a brief and disastrous flirtation with some Srixons, been in my bag for two years now.
The reason I changed is that the Comp EZ long irons were a handful - the MX 20's are much more forgiving, with a large undercut cavity, low COG and a wider sole.
I think they look better than the MX23's, more compact, with less offset and are beautifully made - perfection!

I must say they are a great club , i've often wondered what sort of clubs would you upgrade to from the mx20's ?

interesting opinions, i am just about to consider purchasing a set of Mx 20s, but now i am concerned about "offset", what does a reduced offset do ?
I have had a set for 3 years. More than happy with them and have never been tempted to change.
I have got 5.5 rifle shafts in mine, which made quite a bit of difference to the feel of the club.
Mizuno make brilliant irons. I am not sure what I would upgrade them to when the time comes, but I cannot see that time coming just yet.

How do the rifle shafts affect the club ?
I use the MX23's and they seem to work a little better than Taz's MX20's.
;o)

.JPG) Lawman & Wato,
The answer is MP60's.... :-)
Thanks for responses.I'm going to give them a try.(If I can find any that is!!!)
lawman, does the rifle shafts change the ball flight?
NF, it waqsn't really a case of teh flight being affected. i got a slightly better (ie higher) ratio of ball speed to clubhead speed with them, but the main thing is how solid tehy felt. It is difficult to put into words really, but I got the sense that the rifle shafts seemed to resist twisting more than the other shafts I tried, so were more forgiving on off centre hits.
You can't really beat having a fitting and trying the same head with different shafts, to see what feels best for you.
Oh, and DG I have trtied the MP60s, and I am just not ready to give up that extra forgiveness yest that you get with an oversized cavity back. When get fitted with irons, I have to make a concious effort to leave the ego at home!

Had my mx20's for just over 3 years. was 20 handicap when I got them, now 12. great irons and never had any problem with 3 or 4 iron. Funnily enough have recently been looking at replacements. will be difficult. tried demo MP 60 and titleist 735cm's . with both had a tendency to pull. mp 60's look awesome but will stick with mx20's for the time being.

Have bought a set of Mx 20 on Ebay, found them fairly easy to hit,not quite feedback on ballstrike I had hoped for. Think Mizuno have cheated a little by delofting to create longer distance. Found the Ping I5 Pitching Wedge hit longer than the Mx20 even though the latter is 46 degree loft as opposed to normal 49 degree. My initial reaction is Mizuno's are not as good as the Ping I5,but would recommend them to the high handicapper/game improver. Then again more extensive testing might alter my opinion.Anyone care to comment?

 same spec as lawman here.
i went to get custom fitted for ping i3's, as we all know Ping were the pioneers of custom fitting and IMHO , that was a good thing.
Ended up trying loads, and MX20's with rifle 5.5's.
Had them in the bag for 3 and a bit years and never found anything to replace them

i received my MX20s of saturday and i am very happy with them - so far, the feedback is excellent and i have not lost any distance form my previous clubs TM X-03, which i was expecting. Although i have found that the 4 and 5 i were slightly easier to hit. The whole set is well made and a truly excellent i am glad i got them, especially for £145.

These rifle's,in what way do they effect the shaft? By the way ,played 18 holes today using the Mizuno's for first time and played below my handicap!! Found a little difficulty with Pw.(Pulling).But hit some great mid irons. One six iron hit the green on the full at 165 yards. So no complaints there. Now as to putting..............@*!
I'm absolutely delighted with my MX-20's. The ball flight is excellent and very penetrating, especially compared to my old pings. And certainly much longer. My nine irons go approx. 140 yards compared to the 125 years with the pings. Took some getting used to distance control but I don't think I'll be changing them for a while.

Have been playing with the mx20's for 2 years now, and have come down from 11 to 9 using them! i have the graphite shaft model, and at this moment in time wouldn't change them for anything else? not sure about Roger's remark on them being ok for mid to high handicapper, i was introduced to them by a friend who had a set at the time, and he plays off 3 !
