when using these utility clubs are you supposed to hit them like and iron, i.e hit down on the ball or like a wood, i.e sweep the ball?

i've got a cobra 18* Baffler that i can't hit for shit and was wondering whether it was the way i was trying to hit it.

ta in advance

I hit it just like my irons. It works for me.

I've changed back to my 3 iron but found using them more like a wood gave the best results.

Strike down like an iron if the ball is in the rough and try to sweep it off the tee.

Depends in part on the club length.
I recently changed my hybrids and the new ones are much shorter - e.g. 4i hybrid is std 3-iron length.
Kept topping the damn things to start with, then stood up a bit closer and swung it like an iron, perfect. Does seem a bit weird looking down at a big hybrid head up so close to my feet on a shorter shaft(i.e. not far away like a fairway and my previous hybrid).

I think hybrids are just one of those things that you either get on with or not. Personally, i've hit a few different one's but never got on with any of them, no matter how I tried to hit them.

I got a hybrid 4i, & it's my best mate @ the moment. Using it out of fairway bunkers & rough that i would only manage too get an 7i @ in the past. Getting good contacts consistantlly with 200 yrs of distance.

Stand a bit closer and swing nice and easy would be my tip I have a Taylor Made Rescue 19 degree and love it, my favourite club in the bag doubles as a good chip and run club from just off the green..
