Hi all,

Whilst wandering around my local Coscto this evening, I came across the Powerbug Sport X electric trolley for sale at £155 0dd + VAT (£180-ish) www.powerbug.co.uk

Upon closer inspection, it is almost identical to the Motocaddy S1. www.motocaddy.co.uk
The main difference being the arced "clip on" piece of the frame is triangular. The gearbox and running gear, as well as all the fittings are identical. The handle itself is different, but I think I prefer the one on the Powerbug.

My question is..does anyone know why these two trollies are so similar? Are the companies related in any way?

Additionally..does anyone have any experience of the Powerbug?

I have been usuing a, (Costco supplied), Powerbug Sport X for around 4 months now and have never had even the slightest hint of a problem.
Absolutely silent running, powerful enough to cope with even the steepest of gradients and very stable due to the low centre of gravity. The battery easily lasts for 36 holes on a single charge and seems to recharge pretty quickly too.

In the past 4 months my Powerbug has seen torrential rain and extremes of both hot and more recently cold, it has ploughed on regardless without even a minor hiccup.

It is definately excellent value for money at £182 and some pennies, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for an electric trolley.

looks pretty good. never heard of that make before but your right they are similar spec. i think the powerbug looks a little more like the motocaddy explorer than the s1 though. the only possible difference in spec could be that some of the s1's come with a 200watt motor. but all in all that looks like a cracking trolley i may have a look at one myself as i was looking for a s1.

good luck!! :)

A work colleague of mine bought the powerbug about 3 mths ago from the importers, who are based near Maidenhead. I gather that when he visted to pick it up, they told him that it is made in China at the same factory as the Explorer, (aka trooper and several other names) but that they uprate the electronics, and specify a different motor.

Oh & he's very pleased with it!!:O)

They're more than just a similar spec! From my albeit limited viewings of both trollies, I can safely say that the gearbox, motor, connectors, bag holders & straps, front wheel assembly, axle, frame fold clips and general tubing are exactly the same on both trollies. Clearly, the S1 is a bit more "S" shaped and the handle and potentiometer is different..but that's about it!
