Has anybody tried the Maxfli A3 ball as American Golf Discount have them for £12.99 a doz online.
Is it worth stocking up or are they lumps of concrete?

Yes, I have used them since June/July this year. I bough 24 from AGD in the last fortnight, at £16.99 per dozen... so you can imagine how happy I am that they're now reduced....

For me I have found the A3's to suit my game very well. I'm a high handicapper, with a fairly slow swing, especially off the tee and I'm not prepared to pay £4.00 for a ball that I'm likely to donate to the Sussex wildlife at any time..so am looking for something that has distance and spin at the right time. I have tried the more expensive Maxfli's, and some Srixon Hybrids...but for me the difference in performance just ain't there, whereas the price certainly is. To date I have scored my best three rounds this year with the A3's so I'd suggest you give 'em a go...

Cheers stu I think I will stock up being a high handicapper also.

are they better than A10s ? you can get a10s for stg18 per dozen .. I dont mind paying stg1.50 per ball vs stg1.00 for A3s if the A10 ball is better .. I just dont like paying stg3.50 per ball (eg prov1x)!

I guess for me it's not so much are they better than the A10's, but are they better value than the A10's. I think Maxfli would consider the A10's to be superior in construction etc, since they're more expensive, and maybe a lower handicapper would feel the difference and be able to exploit that value. But i'm pretty happy with the A3's. Having said that, I think Maxfli's generally suit my game, having tried Nike (too much spin) and Top-Flite's (too hard) in the past.

This time of year a two piece low compression surlyn covered ball is fine - and there's a whole rake of 'em.
Solo's, LoCo's, MoJo's, Noodles and A3's.
even the Dunlop DDH Buttersoft

In those balmy summer months though (remember) - the urethane covered three piece ball rules ok! - Off the putter the A10, M3, Pro V or Srixon Hybrid sounds & feels different and off wedges they will check better into hard greens.
