Yesterday, while digging around the dark and dusty backroom of the pro shop I came across a long forgotten and discarded trade-in Ladies Callaway Big Bertha 11 wood.
So, for laffs I gave it a belt. Boy was I surprised! The shaft felt fine, not at all whippy, the club was easy to hit and produced these very high 180yd carry "lobs" with the range balls. Most interesting for me, was I jumped down onto the grass in front of the raneg mats and proceeded to hit shots out of the rough grass with no problem, then I got cocky and stood on the ball and partly plugged it and STILL could hit it, not well of course but better than any iron I have.
I sorta imagined using it as a utility club, out of ruff where I need a bit of distance, 180-190yd par 3's where the green is firm, and maybe downwind drives on tightish holes.
So a couple of sheckels passed hands and I now have it in my bag. Only prob is I am quite big and I have no idea where I can find a skirt large enough to fit me.

 An 11 wood ! wow I thought I was bad buying a 9 wood.
They are so easy to hit it's a joke isn't it, however for me the height they produce is a problem infact I've never used my on the course and it now seems the wife has claimed it, she doesnt seem to care it has a mens stiff shaft and hits it great.
Infact I very much doubt I'll ever get it back now

Um...*shuffles feet and makes sideways glances at Creo* I, um, have a pretty large skirt you can, um, borrow if you like, mate...

I was looking at getting a couple of lofted Bang golf fairway woods 7&9, it will be interesting to see how your experiment turns out. If you hit it too high, get it reshafted
Ladies flex sounds perfect for you though :-)

Assuming this is a serious post...
Whatever it takes to get the ball to the hole in as few shots as possible, alot of people would be better served by looking at the clubs in their bag more closely, theres far too much machoism in golf.
I would think an 11 wood would replace a 5i, for some people it could be alot more consistent to hit (especially out the light rough) and get the ball high which is great for clearing hazards (but less great on windy days obviously).
How can it be wrong if it works?

Welcome to the club Creo..... the beloved `7 wood and upwards` wood owners club :0)

It is a serious post! I played today with half set so no room for it, but have a comp tomorrow and will put it in the bag, though I dunno if I will take it out :)
Looked up the loft and its supposedly 25*, about the same as a Hybrid #5? Though I gotta say its easier to hit than any hybrid I've ever hit and I reckon I've hit most of them.
The ladies shaft in it feels fine, isnt too much torque in fact it feels more like a cut down longer shaft.
We'll see :)

If the 7 wood is the "gentleman's persuader", what does that make an 11? Answers on a postcard please...
Seriously, 25* sounds more like a 9 than an 11, as the 7 woods I've seen are 21-23*. My barber was telling me he plays out of fairway bunkers with his 9-wood all the time. I'd be tempted by one - my 7 wood was the club which made me fall back in love with golf, by taking the fear out of the longish second shot - but I've gone with the fashion and my easy-to-hit 25* is a hybrid. Mind you, with many designs of hybrids, I can't really tell much difference.
One rather disappointing thing is that I'm now only hitting a full iron shot if the distance to the green is between maybe 95 and 145 yards - by 150 I'm hitting an easy hybrid for preference - which means I don't get as much use out of my new irons as I expected to!
How about "lady's seducer"?

 |
It's probably 25* due to being a woman's club, as they tend to sometimes have a higher loft than the mens.

I also know where you can pick up a 13 wood for £16 new. Think you'll need to put pigtails in as well for that one.

 |
Whereabouts can I get the 13 wood Robster.
What's wrong with using an 11 wood? It's just people's macho egos getting in the way. If you have trouble with long irons or a five iron it makes much more sense to use an 11 wood. The scorecard paints no pictures, it just shows your score. If an 11 wood helps, go for it.

11 wood? shameful All 11,9,7 woods should be banned.

I love my ERC 7 wood so much that I replaced my Callaway 3 heavenwood. Both 21* but I got a higher softer shot with 7 wood. An 11 wood Though I think that you may have to play off the red tees with that!!! There is a line to be drawn and that one goes about a foot the WRONG side.
