Received my new G5 Irons today.

Now i'm turning my attention to the woods (as I feel i MUST have the set).

Hitting woods has never been the strongest part of my game, so want something that is VERY easy to hit.

I didnt know whether to go all out and buy the driver or get the 3 or 5 wood.

Anybody got / had either? How good are they?

Any good for a 28 handicaper?

Cheers!

Just one comment - you might not find that the G5 woods are very easy to hit at all. They may all look lovely and pretty in your bag together with your G5 irons, but don't you think you'd be better to try out some other woods from other manufacturers and buy the ones that you like the most and hit the best?

I am currently auditioning fairways and drivers and I don't expect them to be Mizunos to match my irons, Ping to match my putter, Callaway to match my lob wedge, or Cleveland to match my rescue! Infact, driver and 3 wood will prob be different to each other as well!

Just my 2p.

PS. I am 28 h'cap as well.

Kevin my mate has just bought the 3,5,7 wood with the gallafoy blue shafts in regular. I myself have the 3 wood with gallafoy shaft. My mate plays off the mid twenties but regularly pops his 3 wood over 200 yards. He absolutely loves them and can even work a little bit of shape with them. I often use my 3 wood off the tee and find it a real certainity. Make sure however you go through the fitting with a good ping stockist, well worth the extra half hour.

Dont get me wrong, im happy to buy another brand if its better for my game.

Was just wondering what people thought of the ping g5 woods before I go out and try them.

Kevin

I would try them, they are really nice, I tried the 3 and ended up buying th e3 and 5.

But also as has been said try various brands and see what you get on with best

Ooooh, the irony. I just went to buy my first 3 wood from Nevada Bob's in Borehamwood. Spoke to very helpful bloke there, Gary, who let me try about 6 or 7 different clubs out and, guess what, I ended up with the Ping G5... ;-)

Give it a try, Kev!

definitely buy one, i play off six and find my 3 wood forgiving and workable, and its got a big head so i can hit it off the tee. I think it would suit any level of player really, but try other things to see what you like best instead of making up your mind before getting to the shop (though i just contradicted myself after saying definitely get one).
