Hello

I am new to the forum and i need help.

I am about to purchase some new clubs this evening and they need customising due to my height

The clubs are last seasons stock and therefore need to be plugged instead of being cut to length by the manufacturer.

Are there any down sides to having them plugged. The salesman seemed to think so, but i think he is trying to get me to buy this years more expensive model.

Please can you help.

Thankyou

Paul Williams

Once you lengthen the club, the swingweight changes. Also, after lengthening, your swing speed also increases and the shaft might not be optimised for your swingspeed. Hence, you never know whether the club fits you afterwards until you try it out. I would advice only lenthening one club (i.e. 7 iron) and try it out first before converting the entire set.

Thanks Henry.

But are there any negatives in having them lengthened in the shop as opposed to having them cut to length by the manufacturer.

Thanks

I would surgest if you getting one club changed make it the 6 iron, as if it doesnt work, the 6 iron replacements are a hell of a lot easier to find than 7 irons, as they are the demo clubs used by the proshops

I wouldnt worry about the increased swingspeed due to the additional length of club....its likely to be only 1 or 2 mph at the very most.

If the advice to have the club lengthened has been given without even seeing you swing then I'd personally steer clear (unless the clubs are at a fantastically low price!!). A proper dynamic custom fitting that results in the decision to make the shafts 1/2" longer would allready take into account any of Henry T's concerns.

be careful Paul i am tall as well but have long arms so it meant club shortening was my option.

Agree with Tommo.
One's height and the distance from their wrist to the floor are 2 different variables.
