Hello, Random question; Do many people own powerballs? What do you think? Whats your highest score!!? (high ones will need proof :p)
I think they are good, definately feel the arms burn and it really strengthens your wrists and lower arms up.
My highest is 10381 at the moment.
Cheers Stuart

I bought one a couple of years ago and could get about 10,000. Just got it out of the box a couple of days ago and can only just get about 8,000.
The problem I have is I only have small hands so I find it hard to grip. But it does give your whole arm and schoulder a great work out in about 2 mins.
Check out youtube for the powerball record its about 19,000 if i remember rightly and the noise is like a Jet taking off.

Yeah cool vids on youtube, one bloke had one in each hand and reached 29k in total!

I have one..I forget what the high score was...will give it a whirl this evening...christ, but I must be bored!
|
 |
I can't believe more people do not use them. I think they are awesome.
I would recommend one, especially if you have bad rough on your course as it strengthens the wrists.

Yeah I've got a green neon one, my highest score was 11,500.
It's great, haven't used it much recently but when I pick it up I can't put it down!!!!

Great little gadgets, very hard to put down and guaranteed to get a room full of cynics into ultra-competitive mode! My current high score is 13921 but I'm desperately trying to break 14k before I submit it to the Powerball leaderboard (I'm at No20 on the UK mini-league) nullhttp://www.powerballs.com/minileagues.php?id=60Peter

Where's the best place to get one?

i must be living a sheltered life lol what are they and what do they do
|
 |
You and me both Saints, never heard of them, what are the benefits?
|
 |
Asda - £10.
Just bought one on Saturday - can't get the bugger to work! Either I'm not starting it fast enough, or have no technique!
String doesn't seem to give it much of a spin - there are no little plastic end caps on it. Is that a problem?
Also, it says on the tinterweb that it has a little digital counter on the top - mine doesn't. Do you have to get those separately, and if so, from where?

bridgey think you got the std powerball not the pro version that comes with the counter... not sure if you can retro-fit or not. Got mine by doing a product search on google, the cheapest place seems to change daily. Got the pro version (with the counter) for £17.99 delivered but that was months ago and it's probably come down since then.
saints, TGF, it's basically a gyroscope inside a plastic housing, you start it up with a red cord and then rotate your hand containing the powerball... the rotational force makes the thing go faster, the faster it goes the more resistance it gives... Gives your hands and forearms a workout....
Someone told me they were designed to be used by astronaughts since the gyroscopic resistance works in space....

seems that you can "retro-fit" the counter.
You can even get versions with holes bored in them "to enhance the jet fighter sound"!
Still can't get mine to work:-(

Should have plastic lugs on the end on the string, give it a good 'tug' while holding the gyro upside down, and then slowly rotate your wrist. I think to buy they are still around the £18 - £20 mark. I have a neon pro though I prolly need a new one, First time i used it I put it on the table when i finished and it zoomed off and smashed on the floor. It has rattled ever since! Make sure it stops lol
I find it helps for badminton too and even the fire service recommend them!

I liked the thought of this device until I read about the jet fighter sound. How loud is it, please?
|
 |
Lol, not like a jet fighter! Erm, kettle boiling? Prolly not that loud (depends what kettle i guess!)
|
 |
Sorted! Put a little twiddle of sticky tape around the end of the string, got a decent rev up, and away you go!
Quite addictive really, must get a counter, neons, and the "jet fighter" holes!
Seriously though, I'll try anything to rid myself of the chronic elbow pain that only lets me practice for 30 mins a week:-(
It's very enlightening to see just how badly co-ordinated my right hand is - I reckon some good workouts with this baby will help my game.

www.play.com have got the Neon Powerball with the digital counter for £17.99 delivered (new, but no jet fighter enhancements though!)
That was the first hit in Google, so a trawl around / go for secondhand will almost certainly get you one for less.
www.powerball-gyros.com looks the place for the real officianado!

www.powerballs.com is the most "Official" site for Powerballs, and they genuinely produce the best ones. You can get cheap rip-offs, but these won't be computer-balanced and won't spin to much more than 8000rpm. Powerballs.com Powerballs spin to over 16000 revs and are still smooth. (In fact they're developing a Metal one that's rated to 21000 revs!!)
I've just started golfing, but I've been Powerballing for years, and my arms are in the best shape they ever have been, both in physical appearance and health...used to get RSI and tennis elbow, but that never troubles me anymore.
Get one and stick with it through the initial disappointment, because once you "get it" you can't put them down. (In fact, get two...or three!) ;)

Got one a couple of weeks ago, but didn't realise that you can get counters for them as well. So, got a digital counter "aftermarket" (see other thread - I don't know what all of the settings are, as there were no instructions - help!)
Got 10638 on the left hand, and 8309 on the right. How that greek bloke gets to 16000, I don't know!
