played golf first times in 4 years today, only played 9 holes at harbourne birmingam...id only played about 10 games before stopped playing..any way i shot a terrible 64 and to make it worse i played with my brother in law who played for the first time and he shot 65...god this game can be annoying

SL 27, you think that is bad, played in a society on Friday with a guy who insisted he played off 14 two years ago but hasn't played since. He went round a par 70 in 155 and halfway through the round I was improving his lie, thowing the ball out of the rough the lot so god know what his real score would have been. I nearly walked off after 6 holes he was sooooo bad. I wouldn't have minded but for the fact he said he used to be off 14, yeah right, and when I had trouble finding my ball on the 16th he stood in the middle of the fairway having a smoke when I had helped him look for at least 5 balls on every hole!!!

Keep going, it will get better.

I also knew someone who came out with the 'I used to be a 14 handicapper but have not played for a few years' who was then unable to hit a ball. I note a few people on this site left the game and came back to it so can I ask if you really do forget everything or is it like riding a bike. As a novice I can forget what I was doing last week so have no idea.

I took my brother to a pitch and putt 9 hole par 29 course once a few years back. He shot 98 - excluding airshots, which I didn't count.

15 year break yeah i pretty much forgot eveything, thank god!
