Played with a guy last week that had a 'non-shanking' lob wedge. It has a flat face all the way up the hozel. He found it it a charity shop, and reckons you can get a full set of these irons. It was pretty old - anyone heard of them before?

I remember these, read about them in a golf mag back in the eighties, I think. I have only ever seen the wedges in real life though.
I think the irons were made by a company like Fila, or Zevo. Strange looking clubs, but the review at the time was interesting, no shanks, but a real thinning problem :O)

Anything will s***k if you hit it badly enough!
Nothing owned by myself, Darren Clarke, or Ian Poulter!

This won't be much help but anti-shank irons were, about 20-25 years ago, "Miller Barber" signature clubs. I can't remember what company manufactured them. Full sets were available. Shanking could still happen when, say, the ball sat up in long grass but they took away the fear in most circumstances.
Fila definitely made one - late 80s, i think

Thanks for the answers guys, after going through 6 weeks of hell, with 80% of iron shots shanking,(Now cured - thankfully) I was just interested to see this club, and know if others had heard of them.

I remember seeing a lob wedge with the hosel set behind the clubface advertized on something like the Golf Channel about 5 years ago.

I got a bad case of the shanks myself earlier this year, no matter what I tried I couldn't fix it. For some reason I tried changing my grip from ovelap to baseball style, and never shanked one again, no idea why it worked, but it did. I got a really solid and powerful flight with it too. I've gone back to overlap now, but if it ever happens again i'll be straight back to baseball.

Take a look at http://www.f2golf.com

In addition to the wedges it seems they also do a complete set of irons;

Because everyone needs negative offset in their irons...!!!

I have had a set of those vintage "Barber" anti-shank irons, acquired from a friend in the USA. They are certainly different! But you can still sort of "shank" the ball by trapping it under the heel and shaft, as I found to my cost when I tried them. I also had the F2 wedge as mentioned in the thread and its a complete POS. In the end I decided the solution was to fix why I was shanking!

One of my winter texas scramble team mates had a terrible case of the sh**nks last year he bought a wedge supposed to be non sh**nkable didnt work for him still sh**nked. Dont know if there is such a beast exists surely be better to look at weight transfer hand position etc with a pro than rely on weird and wonderful clubs
