I always thought these where nice but expensive. Then I spotted online golf had them on at half price (£299.99)

http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk/mens/gol...og/1278pog.asp

Tempted as I was by these, I have just been to the local driving range (Mearns Castle near Glasgow) and they have them there also at £299.99 from £599.99. Apparently they are being discontinued and sold off. Borrowed a 6 iron and have to say it was really nice to hit, even compared to my beloved Hogan CFTs. The temptation may be too much!

I mentioned it to my good lady and she has no objection to me getting them. Mearns Castle even have the MX Series wedges in 51° and 56° which I know I would have to get to have a nice consistent set.

I can feel a purchase coming on.........

I had a session with these earlier this morning - VERY nice clubs....you hit any of the low-irons flush, the ball really does travel and you don't even feel as though you've made contact.
Fantastic feeling.

For 300 quid, that's a bargain - I paid that much for a set of MX-19s.

When i was in Nevada Bobs earlier they had them at £299 as well. The sets they have in are all .5" longer than regular and also 2 deg. more upright. I'm thinking they might match my height. Seemed like a very nice club, although the top line of the club head did look a little wide on address.

Really nice club. Its a pity that I just hate the thick top line of their long irons. To me, I just cannot get over it looking down while addressing.

Henry T - I know what you mean by the thick top-edge on the Mizunos: I have the MX-19s and aesthetically speaking, they do take a while to get used to, but to be honest, you get such a good contact on the ball with these irons, that it really doesn't matter in the long run....

I love mine, and echoing the previous posts, £300 is a friggin steal...

Wish I had known Mearns Castle were selling them at £299, just got mine from onlinegolf today after a bit of a balls up with the post. Couldn't resist them, I'm skint right now but had to put them on the plastic fantastic. Can't wait untill tomorrow so I can get a skelp at them even though it's meant to be pi$$ing down up here.

Look on the bright side. When they came out I spent £700.00 on a graphite set. Still worth every penny.

Robster, could you tell me how much Mearns Castle are selling the MX wedges for?

Hi,i am also thinking of getting a set of mx900 after trying a demo 6 iron, i believe that from a 7 iron upwards they resemble a blade like iron can anyone confirm this and if so how do they feel in comparison to the long irons.Unfortunately they only had a demo at the Direct Golf store i went to so i have not seen a full set,has anyone upgraded from mx15s and if so are they much better ?.

I wouldn't say they resemble a blade, they are a lot sleeker with a thinner top line and less offset but there is still plenty of cavity to help you out. Also it's from 8 iron that they change. I would go for it Hogan, they are top notch irons.

DD, the MX wedges are £54 or £59 each (I can't remember which) but they are forged and feel really nice to use but boy does that 56° hit it high.

actually bought mine from AGD in the end as when I went back on the Saturday they had closed, went on Sunday and they where doing a stock check. Impatient bugger that I am I went to AGD at Giffnock who did a price match. Nice clubs. The long irons do look a little clunky but from 8 (not 7) upwards are more players type irons and have a nice touch to them.

If my memory serves me right, the MX-15s are cast as opposed to forged so there will be a difference in feel. The Mizuno web-site is the best place to look so you can see the style of them.

I bought a set of MX900s at the weekend, played with them on Sunday and went to the range with them last night. They are made for my size and all of a sudden i can choose where i want a ball to land and know that i can change the shape of the ball in the air with a little thought. I'm loving mine, and i can hit every single club straight and true. Loving them. Only thing i'll be changing are the grips for my muckle hands.

:o)
