Just got a new Adams cart bag with 14 way divider and the excellent Powakaddy Twinline 2 push trolley.

 My question is is there a correct way to load your clubs as i have tried it different ways and keep coming back to driver, 3 wood, 5 wood down one side for easy access and the irons 4 to SW spread from top to bottom in numerical order.

 Now it seems a stupid question but is there a better way so as not to hinder the quick club selection.

At the moment i have covers on the woods and driver which obscure the view to the irons if i place them in certain positions, or should i remove all my head covers before playing any way  ? 

I know its a dumb question but i would like to know if there is a better way !!

Reasonable question, not the most important in golf but I would imagine most have thought about it….

Agree that the covers get in the way a bit but you soon get used to it, selecting and replacing becomes quick and natural.  With the woods at top it stops the irons from damaging the shafts on the woods which I find more important.

My bag is like this

Putter goes in outside putter well  

 Maybe i should try how you have shown, i guess the rule is keep the woods at the top and irons below.

 At the moment i have my woods down the left side and all irons in the remainder as above

I tend to load my woods and hybrids in the middle with the irons around the outside.

I put my woods one side irons in middle pitchers and putters in other side, surely this is a stupid question put the clubs in the holes you want trial and error till your happy, everyone has there own personal choice.

I did say it was a dumb question !!

However im sure the bags are designed to be laoded in a certain fashion, i think woods at top irons below makes better sense to protect the shafts

There are no stupid questions. Okay, there are, but this isn't one. My Mizuno bag works very nicely for me - it has the "Kabuki" system (though this could be the Japanese for "wassock" for all I know).

The central four slots protrude slightly so they hold my 1W/4W/7W/5H, then the six slots round the bottom hold 6I-GW, and the four at the top take my SW/LW with two empty slots, and the putter in its own tube on the side (a feature I strongly recommend). It's the first 14-way bag I've ever had and it's just miles better in terms of keeping track of where everything is.

Meanwhile, my Benross carry bag has 8 slots, which is one each for my carry set. Putter in what I think is supposed to be the "driver tube" (it has a wide cushion which I imagine is meant to protect the driver shaft, but protects the face of the putter just as well, meaning I don't have to bother with the head cover), then the driver in the other slot on the top row, then 7W-5H/6I-8I/PW-SW down the next 3 rows.

I recently bought a motocaddy S3 which came with a "free" S3 bag, this bag has a 13 way divider! It does not have an external putter well but does have an umbrella holder, so at present I have to put 2 clubs in one divider as I want (not need) all 14 clubs! I suppose I could put the putter in the Umbrella holder but then I will have nowhere to put my umbrella. WHY couldn't they have either made it 14 way or better still added a putter well on the opposite side of the umbrella holder?

My new Titleist bag has 6 slots but no putter well.  So they go in like this:-

          1w + 3w         Rescue + Putter

          3i 4i 5i            6i 7i 8i

          9i PW             GW SW

I put the beer and hip flask in the insulated pocket I believe my game improves as the round progresses but my playing partners don't agree.

I've got a titleist stand bag with a four way divider, and load it like this

Putter LW SW PW GW

9,8,7            6,5,4,

 3, 5W, Driver

Putter and wedges at top for easy access

One tip - when you play in a "3 club challenge"-type event, dual strap bags are an unbalanced pain in the ass!

And which pocket do you put your tees in? Different length tees in different pockets maybe? And where to put the pencil, that always gets me.

If anyone is really desperate to know, it's a traditional type of Japanese theatre (it takes roughly the same place in Japanese culture as Shakespeare and contemporaries do in ours). I have no idea why the term is used.

Back to the question - putter in the putter well, and then:

I only have one wood in the bag (the driver) and the rest are irons

I tried organising the clubs by frequency of use but it all got a bit complicated.

Good job you don't use a pencil bag. You would have trouble sleeping at night.
