Had a look see at the piccy's of the Callaway nextist bestist putters.
They look like the old range of Oddyssey DF's
.... but, hey, made out of titanium with tungsten balance weights, no face insert and a nice blued finish .. and well over 200 bucks.
Talk about back to the future.

Seen the pic's in this month's Today's Golfer or Golf World. They look smart but at £200+ I'll think twice, nay thrice!
Besides if I had that kind of money, for my ham fists, the new MacGregor (Bobby Grace) mallet putter would be on my list.

I'll stick to my cheapo putter with the chopped shaft & lead tape - perfik!

Forget about these bigboy's people....... This week in Dubai and at Qatar the following week, the future of putting will be unleashed!! A group of crazy Norwegians(not from the ping stable!!) have designed a new putter that has been tested AND HAS SPANKED !! the current bench mark in the putting world "oddessey's 2ball putter range", with some phenomenal results favoring the new upstart. The name of this putter is called "devilray" putter. Watchout for it this week with some players having been quoted saying that they want this superputter in their bags this week. If unchanged to personal prefference they will be quite destinct to see with an orange colored grip.
you guys heard it 1st here on golfmagic

Why object to paying big money for a putter when you will use it at least twice the number of times you will use an expensive driver. That said my current putter cost £20

When I bought my kit (and for exactly the reason Morris mentions) I decided to get whatever putter I liked best irrespective of the price.
I tried them all: Scotty Cameron Futura, Odyssey 2-ball, TaylorMade Rossa Monza, Ping Anser etc., etc.
I walked out with a fairly standard £30 Bronty mallet putter and thus far I've not tried anything that works as well in my ham fists!

I'm still using an 'original' Odyssey Dual Force 552 putter in bronze - face balanced, stronomic insert, cut down to 32.5" with a thick Golf Pride Informer grip.
Kept polished to a shiny gold and cherished, it rewards me with perfect putts. Because of it's sheer perfection I call it "The Wand"
I paid 40 quid for it 10 years ago.

|
Tried them all and the 1 that works the best is the centre shafted 2 ball.Still misses though now and then

Anyone found anything re this 'Devilray' new stick, only seem to get some US team when I put that name in.

Alan. How do you insert hyperlinks please? Like the one above entitled "This One".
I know normally the
command is used but isn't it different here?
Sorry to threadjack btw ;-)

cheers Al, that tells me all about the Reeso putter but does not mention Devilray. As far as I can see the Reeso is a variation on the Futura. The site looked a bit amateurish and $207.00 would be a lot to part with for this. I will wait and see!
|
|
Yes Alastair - it was whilst surfing for info on the Devilray that I came across the 'Reeso'. Sorry if it confused things - all I could find was some reference to it in a Scandinavian language - couldn't put a link in to that, as there was no pictures.

off on a bit of a tangent but I've picked up an MD Golf Co Down putter for virtually nothing on ebay, and I have to say that it is fantastic quality.
Maybe I'm biased, them being a local company, and me being from co down, and not having used it enough yet to really judge, but I don't know how it could be improved upon.
The feel is excellent and really has filled me with confidence.
I'll review it properly once I've had a few more rounds with it, but I have to recommend that anyone considering a change, at least look at the MD range

MD are building quite a reputation for good kit at a reasonable price Robert - our pro shop stocks it.
