Can anyone answer why my golf pride multi compound grips I have on my clubs are not round but have a ridge or slight oval feel at the back of each grip????

There must be a reason and whats the difference between round and oval  grips

possibly its where the grip tape overlaps itself

if 2" wide tape has been used, this is normally applied straight down the shaft (rather than in a spiral wrap) and may overlap towards the lower part of the grip where the shaft is narrower.

it may be that the grip also has a seam due to the manufacturing process.

Some types of Golf Pride grips eg the velvets have a thinner more pointed ridge underneath ( assuming grip installed correctly) for ergonomic reasons, as your hand fits this shape, their putter prips also have a similar shape but just a thicker overall grip.

Grips come in ribbed or round. The ribbed is a reminder ridge to help get the hands in the correct position. For GP if you roll back the mouth of the grip it will say something like M58R where R = round. If there is no R, then they are ribbed. The use of R varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Most of the major grip manufactures such as Lamkin and Golf Pride offer their popular grips in a choice of either round or rib styles.Rib basically is as you say Paul Ley a ridge along the back of the grip. Its personal preference realy.
