There seems a few different GPS products around now all offering different features (hole flyovers, automatically goes to next hole function, up to 15 carry points etc etc). What do you think are the most impressive features around. what features would you like to see. personally i think combining a sat nav and golf gps would be good. Or is it better to keep them seperate.

Satnav - Golf gps - phone - mp3 player - games machine - tv - radio - internet & e-mail Then you can sit in a buggy and never go to work - or home ... might not play much golf, either.

The best feature on mine is called OGA. You get an alert every time an old git approaches within 20 yards to complain about the demise of the skill of manual distance determination giving you a chance to cover your unit up before he see it.

Hey Eugene - hope you ain't tarring me with the 'old git' brush. I am pro technology ....... hell, I've even got a three blade razor It's just I can't see the point of paying for a stand alone GPS for a golf course - when most guys I have ever played with couldn't deliberately hit the ball to within 20 yards of the pin on anything more than a 150 yard approach shot anyway. ...and anything less than that is p!ss easy to judge anyway.

Good god no Taz, just putting a feeler out to see if there are any anti GPS people out there, who have no interest in these devices but find themselves unable to resist the temptation to comment again and again on them. There have been enough threads debating whether they should be allowed or not, threads on which ones are the best should not be hijacked by people rehashing the same arguments, IMHO Personally, I find them more useful for seeing how far a hazard is from the tee, just in case I hit a good shot, as I rarely hit a green anyway. Agree on the multi use GPS, didn't realise they existed before I bought my SkyCaddie.

Allow 'em ... no real advantage to 'em - for the reasons stated. If I have to upgrade my Satnav I would look for one with a golf gps included - no reason why not. The only thing that worries me, is whether they have the power to complete a round of golf. My current PDA which runs TomTom has a strokesaver type programe which I downloaded. Absolutely useless, as the PDA only runs on its rechargeable battery for 20 minutes max

I could do with one of those, along with ASD, Anti Slice Device. To be honest I've looked at some GPS devices as I like gadgets up to a point, but am put off somewhat by the subscriptions fees which are hardly ever mentioned in the sales garb, I'll mostly be playing the same courses so its a little expensive from that point of view.

I got the SG3, used it at Camberley Heath for the first time, I feel it needs to be kept simple as you do not have the time....A hole flyover???? your playing partners will be cussing you for the time taken to even stand on the T. You need to be able to look at the screen and see where everything is, the SG3 shows you over all distance then a break down of all the bunkers with distances, on the T. When you are on your approuch shot, the screen shows you distance front, middle and back of the green, very simple and quick to asses, no time wasted, means a happy 4ball. Just a quick word to XXXL, cheers for picking my SG3 up for me, also inviting me to you home course for a game and a chance to use my new toy. Thank you

Only one GPS system that has professional mapped courses is Skycaddie, I have called all of the GPS people they have all under pressure admitted that they use ariel photos, in my mind you can only get accuracy if you are stood on the spot not miles up in the air. I want to be confident that the Yardage or Meters that I am given are accurate, this will give me confidence to take the right club, the rest is up to me. I want the information quick, I dont want to have to tap the screen a couple of times to get information. I got a phone that I leave in the locker room when Im playing Golf . I have Sat Nav for my car, a computer at home and in the office where they belong. I am a believer that no one is good at everything so just buy the best gadget for the job you want it to do. I have a Skycaddie because it is the best GPS system by far bar none!

I have a caddy lite and my friend has a skycaddie. not once have we found that the caddy lite gives out inaccurate distances. We have played plenty of courses and never had a problem. be careful saying you can only get accuracy if you are stood on the spot not miles in the air. i don't want you to be done for libel.
