ive just got the new callaway ft-i tour driver and i love it to death. but i think the majority of the benifit to me is the shaft. its a fujikura speed 686 tour. stiff.

and as i was thinking of maybe changeing to the new titleist 3 wood. ive had a look on there site and theres a custom shaft option for a speeder fairway shaft.

my question is , has anyone got a fairway wood witha fujikura speeder shaft in, or the new titleist with this in. as im thinking of getting it or getting a speeder put in my old titleist 3 wood. ??????/

Play a sonartec 3 wood with a fuji 26.3 - better option for a 3 wood as the speeder might be a bit on the light side (for the 3 wood). I use a speeder 553 in my driver and found the 26.3 in the 3 wood is a close match.

I have a stiff fujikura in my Sonetec, not sure what number but i really like it. Play a Proforce V2 stiff in a D2 driver.

aha . thanks for the advice. ive always wanted to try a sonartec as there meant to be exellent, and A LOT  of pros are using them even with there main sponsers clubs. and if it comes with one as standard ill have to get one ordered in to try.

cheers!

The Titleist supplied 757 plays softer than a 757, so maybe the same thing applies to the 686.  I use the 26.3 in X and like it, dunno about the 686.  You need a heavier shaft usually in a 3 wood, usually as a guide 20g heavier.

Sonartec may have gone bust, websites been down a while and their 3 woods are used by pros because they do fly  very low, and I mean low, you need swing speed to get them up

Watch out for the sonartecs. I've been playing at a reasonable single figure standard for 30 years and bought one because of the hype. I couldn't get the ball in the air and hit a horrible low duck hook time after time. Not for everyone...

Agreed, I hated it also but it could have been down to the worst shaft known to man, the Vista Pro, its a pile of junk

cheers lads.

yeah i looked last night and sonartec have no website to speak off. i went to the shop i get my gear from . and they had the new ft tour 3 wood in with a fujikura 370 tour shaft. in stiff. i tried it and i hit it a mile and with a lovely ball flight. im gonna go back through the week and try it against a couple of other 3 woods and see what comes out of it.

never liking callaway stuff , i only tried it as ive just got the ft-i driver and i love it.
so it maybe the one for me.

cheers again
