_of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) Some of the Callaways cavities are good!
Don't rule out good quality used or last years model, you'll save a packet!

The R7 irons are really fantastic, they are so much fun to hit! I've just bought a second hand set from a local pro and he has sent them to TM free of charge to change the lie....so the customer service is pretty good.

Kieron - Srixon are great value for your bucks.

Wilson Di7's are very good for the price(my Pro tells me the shafts are unusually good for the price range-I use graphites) I tried them at American Golf against clubs twice the price i.e Callaways,Titelists,Pings and they performed well,I certainly hit them as far and the feel off the face was soft and solid.

I use the TM R7 XD's. Have 3 sets of the buggers. Big, blobby, offset nasties, but they are long, decent ball flight, the Titanium faces do add a little oompph, feel is fine, and overall, I feel they are best of the blobbies. Give 'em a try but dont bother with the draw versions, the closed face wont help, just mess things up. Oh and if you do go for them be prepared for the usual awesome TM quality - ferrules falling apart in weeks, shaft logos pointing in different directions, crappy grips, heads looking awful after a few rounds, usual TM rubbish where they cant be arsed to do it right cos they dont have to.

What have you been told about Ebay Creo!
Can't believe no-one has mentioned Mizzies... do yourself a favour and get some proper bats, MX900's are going for a song these days, were £500 last year.
I admire Creo. He at least admits what many if not most players, do not acknowledge. That offset, big heads, low cog, perimeter weighting etc etc, will help you. Get the lightest sofest flex you can hit and some big clunky huge headed irons will be your best friend. ps are you sure one of those sets isn't faked?

They are all kosher WB. Its just TM's build quality, or lack of it. Some of their clubs seem very well built such as the Burners, some such as several of their iron sets seem thrown together. Its an irritation, but the clubs work for me so I put up with it. As Paul has rightly reminded us, the Mizzies are also worth taking a look at. I would also suggest taking a look at the latest Cobra irons.

Check out Direct Golfs deals on Macgregor irons. I picked up a set of V Foil M565s in graphite for £150 new. A steal!
Have a look at the reviews on this site for the MX-900's. Not a bad word said about them. I bought a set and have never looked back. Don't know what you are playing off, but these are a great set, even my golfing partner who plays of 7 likes them, his first comment after hitting the 7 iron a few times was "Wow, these feel great" Paid £299 (reduced from £500) for my set about 6 month ago, you can get them here MX-900's for less than what I paid. Anyway good luck with whatever you purchase.

Creo, why the hell have you got 3 sets of the same club? Keiron dont discount Callaway big berthas 06' model. I think these are probably one of the easiest irons to hit, Also Ping G5 are worth a punt if you don't mind not having the latest models, Both can be picked up for under £350! Now that the newer versions are in the shops.

Due to switching my single length iron experiment, to use clubheads specifically designed for the purpose, I have a set of the original RAC LT's going spare. 3-PW with DG S300 shafts, at standard length and lie, would rate them at 9/10. If anyone fancies giving them a home then make me an offer. IMHO they are as good a players cavity as you'll get. But then I use them myself so I would say that.

Apart from the others already mentioned, the Cobra FP, S9 and UFI irons might be worth a look. Haven't tried the UFI irons yet, but some Americans claim they are very forgiving and a very soft feel. Maybe not forged soft, but some suggest pretty damn close. Today's Golfer have a quick test video clip of them and say they feel powerful and hard to fault.

1 over - they all have different shafts:- TM stock steel reg, Grafalloy Blue graphite stiff, TM R7 graphite stiff.
How do the graffalloy shaft ones play? I am considering having new rod's put in my berthas and those were high on the list.
There is a thread about it somewhere I did at the time. Bottom line is they are extremely consistent, dispersion almost like steel, but play very stout. No surprise for a Graf Blue. When I am swinging freely they are awesome, but when its cold and damp and I have several coats on I just can't power them up, hence the "lesser" R7 shafts in another set.

Do yourself a favour and by a second hand set of callwaway's, i'm using a set of X12's i got them new 9 years ago and i'm getting better and better with them. I tried out the new X20's and they perform no different to mine, you can get a set in good nick for £100.
