Getting the AP1's tonight but going to skip with SW and take a Vokey SW but what degree and bounce do I want to get?. Not sure what kind of sand I play in normally never played from them apart from winter so summer sand will be different. Any ideas Thanks. (Do I want Oil can or non Chrome?)

I think you should have at least 2 wedges with different amounts of bounce so you have options from both different sand and grass. As far as I know, more bounce will be better in fluffy sand, soggy ground and rough, whereas low bounce is better in hard/wet sand and tight lies. My wedge set up is 48 6*, 52 8*, 56 14* and 60 4* I have a 60 deg oil can vokey and whilst its a great club, I hate the way it rusts, discolours, and generally looks crap in the bag against my pending MP60! I also read you can leave them in coke which I thought would revive the finish, but actually removed the finish and left it bare metal, now rusting. So I'm changing mine for a Mizuno black nickel.

The rust is meant to add spin though. Apparently.

My 60 Degree is rusting as well but need to oil it and keep it dry after a round like as you say it does look nasty.!
|
 |
yep it adds spin - if you don't like the look give it a rub with gun oil every now and then.
|
 |
Well it is rust in lines where the ball has hit, is it meant to do that or is that where I maybe messed a shot up. If its going to add spin I dont really care about the look of it lol!

Apparently the rust finish is supposed to add feel and spin. I have a Gun-metal finish Progen 52* gap wedge and a Chrome finish 50* big bertha gap wedge and as far as I can tell the bertha is a lot more finesse on delicate wedge shots but not as soft on full fat smacks! Both clubs create as much spin as each other. (no drag back but plenty of stop!) Although this could be down to the progen being a Forged club and the bertha is heavy Cast club?

The vokey I have is not the full rust one but the soft metal one. Certainly aint the chrome one either. So think mine aint meant to rust is it!

Looking at the specs for the AP1'S the PW has a strong loft 45 deg, you need to bridge the gap between that and your 60 deg wedge,IMO I would put a 50 deg gap wedge in with 6/8 deg bounce for around the greens and a 56 degree SW with 14 deg bounce, then If you have hard sand conditions you could always play your 60 deg wedge as it has little bounce. Just my 2p worth

Yeah I aint looked at lofts and I will more than likely get 2 more Vokeys to go in middle like you say. I got Vokey Bag and normally use ProV1's or NXT's and got Irons and one Vokey so mess well get other Vokeys too I like the grips. Not sure about drivers I got Ping G5 3W which I like so might ty G10 Driver etc. : ) Thanks for help too. I will ask about Wedges when I get money!

Kieron, I've got the AP1s and I think you'll love them, especially the short irons. When you get your wedges I should print off Dandy Don's tuppence worth, and take it with you. The wedge is quite strong, and unless you like playing 3/4 shots you'll need that sort of set up. The vokey spin milled is a lovely club.

Kieron I've got a 46 degree PW (not AP1's unfortunately!) and have a 50/08 56/10 and 60/04. About covers every option - could maybe do we a bit more bounce on the 56 but having said that it works well out of soft sand and deep rough.. Which is handy!
