Hi Guy's, Have just looked at a set of Pings, trying G10 and Rapture. Hit both nicely, but the Rapture was a club longer with the same high flight and soft landing. Can anyone comment on the relevant merits of either club? Is the Rapture @ £499 better value than the G10 @ £399 for the extra length, or even a set of G5 at £350? I'm a 22 Hcap whose looking to play a lot more golf this year, with a goal of making 15 by the end of the summer. Thanks

I play i5's and they are good. My lad plays i10's and they are also nice. Play with whichever you feel best with, but be sure to get them fitted for you, even if that means a 2 week wait for your order to be constructed. The only thing I don't like about the Rapture's is that they're not one piece heads.

I felt the i5's were better than the current i10's. Slightly bigger head size and they feel really good. I hit them so much better than i5's & G10's and I really suck.

The Pro thought I may struggle with the 4/5 irons if I went for the i10's, that's why it was down to G10 or the more expensive Rapture. Is there much difference between G10 and G5?

Are the Ping range in a sort of ascending scale of 'game improvement'? Which are at what end of the scale?

The G10s have a bigger sole and head than the G5s so more forgiving I'd say

Are the Ping range in a sort of ascending scale of 'game improvement'? Which are at what end of the scale? The "G"'s are their game improvement versions and the "i"'s are their intermidiates so to speak with less perimeter weighting and less offset. The 10's are the current range, the 5's the previous range and the Rapture an expensive play with multi metals that came between the other 2.

Well, I think it will be the G10. I can't really justify the extra £100 on the Rapture, and the G10s are only about £60 more than a set of G5s on ebay. Anyone want to change my mind before I do the deed!!

You can't go wrong with the G10s - very good game improvement club and pretty much the same profile as the raptures

Kentish, Raptures aren't between the Gs and Is - they're if anything even more extreme game-improvers than the Gs - but the main difference is their titanium face and tungsten weights. The Gs rely on geometry rather than mixed materials. The Maltby Playability Factor (if you believe in that) of the Raptures is 914, for the G5s it's 909.

When I said the Raptures were between the 5 and 10's, I meant in age of production.

 In which case I agree!
