Shaft Differences

I play off 6 and am currently looking at a new set of irons (will either be Titleist ZM or AP2, or Mizuno MP67 or MP60). I see a lot of talk about different shaft options - Nippons, Dynamic Gold, Project X, 5.5, 6.0 etc etc - but I've no idea what it all means and what the differences are.

Can anyone give a brief overview? I've seen a few articles on other sites but they're all a bit too basic/generic and don't talk about specific models.

 Thanks!

The only way to know is try them with your swing and see which you prefer. Every swing is different. So you need to get your self along to a custom fitting which can put different shaft options in the club heads you want to get the perfect set up. I know the AP2 has this option at Staverton Park.

Get yourself to a pro with a range and a lot od demo irons. In that way you can try out different shafts and see what best suits you.

To be honest the difference between different shaft manufacturers can be fairly marginal in the average golfers hands. Where the manufacturer uses 5.0/6.0 is reference to shaft stiffness with 5 being regular.

Custom fit is the only way otherwise you may well be throwing your money away.

OK, I tried to cut and paste from a spreadsheet I have but no joy. It gives basic details of a number of clubs I have as demos, I have taken a screen capture of the sheet and I hope this gives the basics you are after:
