My putting over the past week or so has verged on the absurd - despite loving the socks off my Scotty for its performance last season and knowing that it one day it will behave again.

So before I resort to hurling my beloved Scotty putter into a dark, cold, wet place - I have decided to garage it for a while and invest in another.

I have purchased brand new for the sum total £64 .99 inc. p&p a Wilson KC-3 Kirk Currie 33"

Does anyone know anything about the adjustable weighting system of these?

Taz, (I may be wrong, please correct me) Have'nt you said Before about having a lesson before you go investing money in new gear?  You could have had a couple of putting lessons for £60 and stayed in love with the Scotty!

Having said that Its a lovely new flat stick!

My putting has been & will be good again but I have been missing short putts for no reason - now, just a complete lack of confidence leaves me trembling over my putts. This has caused me to start altering set up, stance, putting action, ball position etc. almost every putt

A new stick with its placebo effect may help the cause.

..........plus the fact it looks a quality piece of kit for 60 bucks - already @ my preferred length and supposedly has a grip & sole weighting system

I'll have to see what it's like when it arrives

Good luck with it Matey! sound like a real bargain! Where did you order it from? and if you do decide to hurl the Scotty into the drink! Let ME know and i'll grab me scuba gear!!!

Taz - if you are struggling on the short ones, try this. Just focus yourself 100% on getting the putterhead to move over the hole in the follow through. Where the putter head goes the ball must go. Make an exagerated follow through, may seem a bit crazy at first so try on practise green. You'll think that you will push the ball illegally rather than strike it but that doesnt happen, just take your normal backswing then with control push the putter head through 2 or 3 feet so that it ends up over the hole (but of course way above it and short of it). Ive fixed my own and friends short putting so many times with this. Once you are holing them again and the confidence returns just go back to putting them normally.

Creo, the cheque is in the post (sic) Well I stuck a stamp on the monitor anyway

I have just stolen and used your putting stroke follow thru tip and be damned it works!

1st attempt 6/10, 2nd 6/10, 3rd 7/10 all from 9, 7 and 5 ft respectively! Im gonna move some chairs and see what its like from 10 and 12 ft!

Are you the Devil?

Much Kudos Fella!

Glad I could help 1 over.

It does work, but best for shortish putts. Once they get mid-range its best to concentrate on speed. My logic is that we intuitively pretty much know how hard to hit the short ones, so can free the mind to just focus on the "putter to the hole" technique.

I dunno where I got this tip, if I read it, or whether it occured to me, or a bit of both, but everyone I have nagged to try it that I know has improved dramatically on the knee-tremblers.

An yes, I am the devil

Well Creo If we ever Do meet The mikly bars are on me!

Just set up 5 tees at 1 ft intervals starting at 5 ft then 6ft and so on up to 9 feet away

Results on bedroom carpet (admitidly) But its good Berber  (only £19.99 s/m)

5ft ~ 10/10

6ft ~ 10/10

7ft ~ 9/10

8 ft ~ 10/10

9 ft ~ 8/10

I Can't wait to see if this works for me on the real putting green tomorrow!

Thanx Creo - tried it in the living room - with the Scotty - and it seems to work  It has taken away the stabby little pushes and flicky pulls that I have got into a habit of making.

Haven't got the new putter yet and have a medal (off the dreaded whites) tomorrow at 7.48am - so will let you know how it goes

- cheers for the tip

1 over - I bought the putter from Tony Valentine Golf Centre the only place that had the 33" option I required.

Hey Taz, I'm pretty sure you are not an Essex Boy but I was driving to the range yesterday and a car overtook me with the number plate TAZ 5522  I just couldn't help but think of you

Taz

I have just bought from a seller with a long, unblemished history on eBay a brand new 34"Wilson KC-2 inc weights and heacover for £45 plus £5 postage.

It should be with me next Tuesday and I will play with it in a Seniors competition the next day. I know perfectly well that my execrable putting must be down to ME as for 4 years before the last three months I had putted very well with my beautiful Fisher Touch blade! However, with putters sometimes I do feel that "a change is as good as a rest"

Taz/Creo,

Im going to the club now to put that putting tip in to practice! Creo if I get the results on grass that I got on carpet I will be a very happy bunny!

Report back later either way

I once saw a show with Faldo recommending the "pushing" short putts through into the hole technique for practicing so it has some good references (not that Creo isn't good enough   )

Ah I dont mean the push technique for practise that Faldo recommends. Thats a practise technique and illegal to use in play. I mean take a normal stroke but with an exagerated follow through and forcing yourself to finish with the putter head visually covering the hole.

Taz, The boy done Good! Creo its true you really are the Devil

I Used the technique on the putting green today from 3, 5, 7 and 9ft. 10 balls from each and low and behold, 3 and 5 ft 10/10 twice!!!!  7 and 9ft not as good but still in the 7-8/10 brackett.

I was talked into playing a quick 9 holes and 14 putts? 3 singles from 10ft helped but definately better results from 3-7 ft!!

Cheers Creo, That little gem will stay with me now on!

Boa, weren't you the one to chastised me for having several putters and telling me to find one good one and stick to it?

Ermmm...of course when I say several...I suppose I do mean about a dozen or so...
