hello,

Right, tried the Mizuno MP 600 yesterday and it was OK. I got the feeling the solid shots were more from the shaft i was using than the actual head though. In a bid to save some cash short term (new putter and leccy trolly this month) I am thinking about just getting a softer shaft...

I tried the Aldila NVS 65 reg and it was ok but i felt the 'kick' was a touch late, the standard stock exsar reg felt just right.

Anyone know where I might get one from? Or something else similar? I have tried ebay and google and going to speak to my pro shop tonight but any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated...

Do you mean the Aldila felt a bit stiff?

Not sure if stiff is the right word, I guess yes it was slightly stiffer than the stock exsar DS3. Now looking at the print off my swing speed is only about 87 - 90 mph and ball speed on the exsar was at 125 mph compared to 121 on the aldila..

You are the start of a very long journey unless you really take some time to work it out now, swing speed has NOTHING to do with what shaft you need in a driver. As a very broad brush

transition relates to weight
release relates to overall flex

Tempo also plays a roll, some are very sensitive to flex, some aren't. Example, a long wallowy swing with an early release and slowish tempo, and the same swing speed as a fast hitter with fast transition and late release, may need totally different shafts. One a butt soft stiff tip reg flex at 55g and the other 95g butt stiff tip soft in XX. You really need to see a very good pro who can work through these things.

The above example is real btw, I swing at 110mph and use the 95g, my mate a guy at 125mph when he wants to be uses a much sifter and much lighter shaft.

If you really dont have the time just grab two demo clubs poles apart in flex and specs and have a go
