Hi all,

I'm after some advice, my daughter is getting very good at golf & her pro coach has said she needs a full set of clubs soon, he recommended MD & Ben Sayers, does anybody have any views on which one to go for, any advice would be great - as I know nothing about golf ive sort of caught the bug watching my daughter, I was thinking of getting one of these Dunlop MX2 irons to just knock about about with, are they suitable for a first timer at the driving range

Cheers

No contest IMO. MD Golf products are just as good I reckon as almost anything produced by the major companies and generally at half the price! Look out for the MD Ti Superstrong irons with a Grafalloy graphite shaft (on eBay) which IMO is most suitable for your lass!

The MD irons are superior, but the Ben Sayers Benny Driver gets a great write up and is under £100 and comes with quality components,in short MD irons, ben sayers driver

Hi Gary,

I currently have MD irons gap wedge and have just ordered an MD driver so I think that they make a great club. But i dont know about MD ladies / junior clubs.

I have not had much experiance with Ben Sayers - I have a 2 iron replacement Hybrid that i got in a sale for £20 but it doesnt really get in my bag much but is a great club for long par 3's

Take a look at this thread I started yesterday on MD they are getting alot of positive feedback.

Can your daughter try the clubs he is recommending? She may have a preferance for one or the other, or perhaps a different make once she has played with them.

I dont know about the Dunlop club  - you can often get a good deal on 6 irons from golf shops as they seem to use these most in the nets. Many driving ranges let you use clubs for free  - they will probably be a bit battered but if its just to start you off then i would have thought they would be ok.

MD and Ben Sayers are both great choices, I use a Ben Sayers Hybrid every round and keep a Ben Sayers driver in the car for range work, to be honest its not much different to My Taylormade R7 in my bag, just wouldnt hurt as much if stolen from car, had a set of BS M7 irons great clubs but soles were a little wide for the bone dry Municipal course I was learning on

I cannot recommend MD Highly enough, I have the original superstrong forged irons, two EQL fairways, 1 EQL rescue and an EQL Driver that only gets taken out occasionally (nothing wrong with the club but the stiff shaft is too much fo me unless my game is in top form). The quality is excellent.

Now the health warning, while I love these clubs and they suit me very well, they will not suit everyone - there is no substitute for trying before buying.

Excelent choices, but she really needs to have a swing herself to decide.

Thanks for all the advice, sounds like the right two choices to try out, even though I caught her looking at nike sumo & iron sets & catching a sight of the prices, shes got no chance lol
