Just got back from the course after haaving new grips fitted to my irons. In my review of the MX900's I complained about the grips, so after 6 months I have replaced them with these babies Winn Grips

All I can say is WOW, these are absolutely brilliant.

1. Lovely and tacky, no way these will slip out of your hands.

2. Great for my hands (midsize versions)

3. Feel really comfortable when you strike the ball, even on slight mishits (i hit 3)

4. Look great and have the placement marks.

My mate had a go of a couple of my irons and he is sold straight away. Going to get some next week to fit on his 2 month old Taylormades. Why can't manufacturers put decent grips on their irons instead of the cheap tat that they usually fit, after all, they charge enough money for them.

I got these Lamkin Blue fitted on my new MP60s at the time ordered them from Cumbernauld. They're lovely also but might have considered the Winn DSisif I'de noticed them. Perhaps get my woods done in the DSIs.

Not sure Iget longer straighter shots as advertised on the website though!

I helped the pro put on a set of those Winn grips this week (the red ones). Took us both 2 hours to get 5 out of 10 on. All of them split at the bottom. In the end we had to soak them in white spirit to get the rest on. They have no "give", they are like solid tubes, and split soon as look at them. I cant imagine they can be blown on with compressed air as they will split, so no OEM is gonna touch them. You must have some magical touch with putting grips on!

I notice that the Winn variants have different weights. I would have thought that this would effect swing weight or are the ammounts too small to make a difference? Does anyone know?

Creo,

I did not fit them myself, got my local pro to do it, I don't have the balls to do it myself, even after reading Gamola's tutorial.

Seems I made the right decision

Paul, I had the Winn midsize G8's fitted to my berthas and I love them!

No need for a glove as they are soft and tacky in warmer weather!

I am thinking of regripping the last 3 remaining clubs that have their original grips still on!

And like you my mate had his clubs done very soon after trying mine!

They can be a bugger to get on as some seem tighter than others, gently scrunching the mouth of the grip before you start helps, as does white spirit, when they are blown on you can use either white spirt or washing-up liquid just to get it started. They do have a rigid tube on the inside. The problem is that if you get them stuck halfway, unless you have the ability to blow it off with air, you will have to cut them off in all probability.

It will, but not by enough for people to notice. At the butt end of the club it takes approx 7g of weight to effect it 1 s/w point. I explain swingweighing at my website if you want some more details.
