Please can anyone tell me if there is a particular style of putting which the HeelToe or mallet putters suit? I have been a mallet player all my golfing life but have noticed that the really good putters , both Tour Pros and the guys at my club, use Heel Toes!!! I am starting to get a bit disallusioned with Emma, my Yes putter, and have been eyeing up a Scotty, I have a slightly open to slightly closed swing path if that helps...

If your disallusioned with it, it isnt going to ever help, learn to love her or switch to a "Callie" Scotty's are orerated IMO

MTP

I have recently bought a Scotty and it is a thing of beauty. I have the Circa 62.1 and it is great...................

But it is only great when I am on my game. In reality I think it is a putter for a good putter...............and I am not a good putter. It gives great feedback and really lets you feel the putt, but if you are slightly off it is massively short. If you pull it slightly it is pulled bigtime.

I have now gone back to the 2 ball (with a 2 thumb grip) and it is truly ugly......but it works great and doesn't punish me too much for a poor stroke.

That said if you fancy a Scotty circa 62.1 make me an offer .

The suitability of a putter to your swing is more about it's balance than head shape. A staight down the line stroke is best suited to  face balanced putter, while an inside to inside stroke is best served by a toe weighted putter. A face balanced putter will lie flat if you balance the shaft on your hand, whereas the toe weighted will point down at an angle.

A simple blade is likely to be toe weighted, whist heel and toe putters and most mallets are likely to be face balanced. I can't be sure about this because I don't know the details of every putter.

From what you say it seems as though you would be best served by a toe weighted putter.

Have a look at this on the Mizuno website. It gives tips on putting and which putters suit which type of stroke. Make your own mind up after that.

Martydoc, thanks for that link its definately given me some pointers it would seem that my stroke would suit a heel Toe type better, but after reading what the other guys said about the Scotty I will have to do some in depth research, Im off to the golf shop(again!) whoopee!!!
