I have just regripped my irons with some new thicker Lamkin grips and wow what a difference. I got the idea after using a couple of our pro's clubs whilst having a lesson.

At £6 a club fitted, I feel as though I have a new set of irons !

I have been hitting my short irons higher and longer and my longer irons straighter - why this should be I just don't know but the clubs feel great in my hands.

Could someone please explain and should I get my woods done too ???

I once had a set of custom made clubs, upon delivery I found they hit the ball consistently a few degrees right of target. Took them back to the pro who realised the wrong thickness of grips had been fitted (too thick) the grips were swapped and the problem was sorted.

Just shows what the correct grip can mean.

I re-gripped my clubs myself using the Golf Prode multicompound midsize, with a couple of layers of tape underneath. The difference from the original (custom fitted) Callaway grips was amazing. I have really big hands; the new grips just "feel" better.

I fitted my old Hogan CFTs with midsize GPMCs and found them really nice to handle.  I still have them fitted to my Adams fairways.

My current Mizuno MX-900s are fitted with GP Tour Velvet of normal size which are also OK for me.  I am loathe to go back to mid-size as I am hitting the Mizzies so well at the moment.

So I am totally undecided.  Not much help to anyone that really was it?

As I understand it there are guides to handsize and grip size but they are guides. Alot of it comes down to feel and preference of the player.

I use mid size grips, they feel better for my gorrila size hands and help reduce my weak shot which is a hook.

As I understand it the general rule is a grip too small for you can bet you rotating your hands through impact too fast. Increasing grip size can slow this rotation down.
